ok... so long time ago, i had bird poop on my pass side door, didnt clean it for about 3 days (lazy) and now i have a permanent stain, like a thin dry layer of glue...anyways, lesson learned... last night coming home from work, i saw bird poop on my hood. So i go home, get a wet towel, and clean the sucker off. (this was almost in the dark btw) this morning, i find circular scratches all over that same spot... i guess it was hardened and i rubbed it against the paint....
just needed to gripe about my stupidity...and stupid bird crap...

 

same thing happened to me, cleaned my car 2 days after it happened, now have a mark where the poop had been....
tried to remove it but nothing had worked. Anyone have any tips on this discouraging incident?

 

remove the poo as soon as you find it is the key. The excretments are very acidic and eat through wax like nothing and then proceed to etch into the clear coat. Get rid of it early, and you don't have much to worry about.

If it has etched intot he clear, well, meguiar's scratchX is the only OTC abrasive that I think works halfway decently.

 

My car had the special exterior protectant on the car when I bought it that supposedly protects against etching from birds. I wonder if the coating is still there after a year. Oh well, it has a several year guarantee on it so I shouldn't have to worry. ScratchX should take that etching out.

a bird pooped INSIDE my car gah! on the freakkin back seat and i have come to the conclusion that the only way it could have been there was me driving with the roof all the way open going at a fast speed and a damn bird was as fast as me

^that's happened to me before too! I left the sunroof open one day so it wouldn't get so hot inside the car and when i came out a couple hours later to go to work, my armrest cloth was white!

man there are some monster birds out there...one time one doodoo covered half my headlight. Cleaned it off right away though but I still have bug stains from driving up and down from college

Gotta wash my car at least every week (if not more frequently), not because it gets dirty, but just because of the damned bird poo.

Anyone know if a clay bar will remove the poo stain in the clearcoat?

 

We need to borrow and adapt one of those anti-missile lasers from the army (army? forgot which branch had it) and put it on top of our roofs...

I suggust having a bottle of Mothers Detailer & microfiber towel...I have that w/ me all the time to take care of Bird Poo or and kinda dirt!...Then again I clean my car 2 times a day!!...

 

Check your car multiple times EVERY day, carry Armorall or some other type of cleaner with you and a rag at all times. Bird poo should no longer be a problem.

As soon as I got my tC, I started checking it frequently/daily because of all these horror stories here on SL.
