Default Stupid Cheap Accessories

One of my friends got me a Scion license plate frame for Christmas... the chrome one with black lettering. After just a couple months - the black paint started chipping away. I was like "wtf?" I hadn't done anything with it other than wash my car... but apparently that wasn't enough.

Though I've noticed there are two different versions of this plate. One is available from the dealer and the other I think is made by OBX and includes a keychain. The dealer one is the one I have and the letters stretch wider across the bottom than the OBX one. Just incase anyone is shopping for one of them - something to keep in mind.

Anyways, I have been meaning to fix it at some point... nothing fancy... just make it not look like crap with chipped paint on EVERY LETTER. I'd guess that about 60% of it had chipped off.

So here's what I've been doing tonight.

The beginning - and the problem:

Scraped it all off:

The taping completes:

Finished product - not totally dry, but good enough.

I just went with a silver... partly b/c I have a silver car, but also b/c it's what I have around from other little projects. It's not absolutely perfect and might even chip off eventually itself. But it looks better for the moment.

^^ This one has caps that snap on over the screws. Finishes it off nice. I'll post pics of it on tomorrow.

It's funny I seem to like the cheap / simple mods the best, I guess it's because I don't feel guilty about spending so much money or somthing.

Well in this case I mean cheap quality. I think the thing is like $20-$30 ... but for a frame of that price, I should be able to expect it to last at least 6 months... or even a couple years!
