how dark until it's illegal?

 

I thought any tint on the tail lights / head lights was illegal?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I had mine done before and never had a problem with them. And I just looked around and I'm guessing it depends on state laws, but a couple of them that i have seen just say a taillamp shall emit a red light plainly visible at a distance of 1,000 feet from the rear of the vehicle. But again may be different for each state.

depending on the state, the light output has to visible from a certain distance. my state is 500 ft
