Default tC dilema

Ok so in 2 months... *i hope, i hope, i hope*
im purchasing my 5spd BSP scion tC.
*yes black rules!*scroll down i agree 110%!

My boyfriend has The tC RS1.

and as my grad gift. my dad is helping me out with a brand new car
finanly and ive wanted the tC since it came out. but yeah broke in school teen lol.

now the reason for this thread...

im a former owner of a 97 nissan 240sx, and a close friend of mine bought the same car. **continued at the bottom of pics**

(my old silvia <3 )

i wasnt to comfortable with it. we had the same interests, and he wanted his car to look and be just like mine. I didnt like it period.

my boyfreind says hes fine with it and recomends it. but i did the same thing with my friend. and all but now i feel like hes feeling the same way.
he seems excited but i put on a pretty big front too. i got annoyed with the kid.

the boyfriend has the absoulute red tC and has some plans for her still

i already have a mod list and time frame for my tc.
cosmetic and go fast goodies. <3

we have very similar taste. and i just feel like thats going to annoy him, as the kid did with his silvia trying to look like mine.

think i should get over it and keep on pursuing the tC, and continue with my plan
or buy the Gli i was going to purchase. so he doesnt feel like im trying to be a mimic to him.

help! :

I can totally relate to you here. I was in the market for a new car, and to a lesser extent, so was my bf. I took him along with me to look at cars, and the tC was on my very short list of what I wanted. When we test drove the car, he loved it too. It was exactly the color he liked (FM). So in the midst of my car shopping day, he bought the car.

I was totally bummed out and p.o'ed, lol. It was suppose to be my car. I did not want us to have the same car. But I kept looking, and it turned out that I really wanted the tC more than all the other cars out there that I was looking at. I got the color that I wanted ( IIP) the day after he bought his.

We live together, so we have 2 tCs in the driveway, hehe. But what has happened with us is that we both have our own ideas on fixing up the cars. And we go to shows together, work on the cars together, and it's something that we both enjoy spending time on, Yet our cars remain unique.

So.. my advice is... get the car you truly want. Do what you want with it, and enjoy. Who knows where the bf may be in a year or two anyway. You have to do what is right for you. You know that you weren't looking at the tC to just be like him, so no big deal if you have the same car.

I think it would be cool having a couple of tC's. You say that you have similar tastes, but I am sure there are a few things you would do differently to your car than he would do to his. I say go for it and you two can go to shows together with two cars.

unless $$$ is a major issue.. based on my experience, i wouldn't recommend the tc. although maybe the 06s don't have the same issues as my 05

My 05 has ZERO issues. I have nearly 18k and have not had a single problem with it.

And yes... some have issues. But this is a site concentrated with Scion people who are going to report those issues to one another. So it seems like there MIGHT be a lot of them, but when you also factor in the general public that doesn't know SL exists, it's not as bad as you might want to think it is.

The tC is NOT a bad car. Some people have more problems than others with it, but that will happen with ANY vehicle. I don't care if you spend $300k on something. It MIGHT have issues.

i'd get it...me and my friend both have tC's and we are basically doin them up the same, we are cool with it, cuz we always roll 2gether, so its tite. he has a white one, and i have a black one so there is still a difference. and for those who havent said it yet..your S14 was very nice...is that a KA-T or red top? i love it..i would choose that over the tC to be honest

3inch strait ehaust 4-2-1 headers, and a custom fmic <3
shes tuned to the way i like her and thats idling at 1500k rpms <3

i put out 345 in that sucker with her td-06 greddy turbo. boosting safely at 22 psi ;)

shes sold now

My g/f and I both have tCs... and we do just fine. It's fun b/c we both look for the same parts and laugh at the same rice and such.

She's making hers more of a show tC... and I'm setting mine up for autoX (as best i can, it's still a daily driver). So we don't really go for the same stuff all the time though.
