Default Tc rock deflector able to be disabled?

I dont know for sure if its even a good idea to do this, but is it possible to disable the moon roof rock deflector while still having the rear portion of it still function? Havent found anything on the search option.

Rock deflector?! I hope you're not trying to deflect rocks with it... it won't last that long!

(It's actually for wind)

I don't think anyone has tried to disable it though... do you actually have a reason you'd want to? I think it should be able to remain down with the roof open. The only reason it opens up is because it's on a spring loaded mechanism that automatically opens it when the roof is opened.

Lab, no offense, but that was hillarious.

My front bumper and hood rock deflectors have been deactivated for some time now, I'm pleased to say any and all rocks have impacted my paint sucessfully.

There are two struts that push it up when you open the sunroof. If you disconnect or remove those, it shouldn't lift up.

I am not responsable for anything that happens after you do that, though.

umm w/o the deflector wouldn't debris hit ur sunroof still? which in return will cost more to replace the sunroof than the deflector?

yup, and the wind noise would suck. just take it off and drive around for a while and see how you like it first, my tarta top supra has something similar and i zip tied the springs down, now i have noise but it goes away if i crack the windows. don't know if that will work with the TC.

Believe me i know that its not recommended, and i feel retarded for saying rock deflector .

I just wanted to do it because the wind deflector just doesnt look good to me anymore. I dont drive with it open on the freeway or whenever im driving fast since ive read the other stories on here about it.

We've had stories about both that piece breaking, and the actual sunroof breaking.

If you leave it alone, it will still be covered under warranty. If you modify it, the dealership might claim any damage to your sunroof is because you modified it...

I think it's stupid to do that. IF you mess it up, you will suffer the consequences. I like it IMO. But, it's your car, your money, your mistakes.

Ok, when you do mess it up, I want you to make a thread apologizing to us how you didn't listen to us.

Just kidding.

i dont want to say do it or not but there is a very simple way to stop it from going up , look at the 2 rails that move up when you open the sunroof under the deflector , you will notice on the sliders ther is a small hole , just stick a screw in the whole on boths sides , and presto , no wind deflector ,

Just so you guys know, im not worried about noise because like i said i dont drive with it open when going faster than 50mph. Im not really worried about it breaking unless i break it when disabling the wind deflector and hopefully im not that complete of a nub.

And yes i will apologize to all who told me i was asking for it

By the way the screw thing does not work

I got it. Didnt have to take apart anything just wedged something in there to stop it. I tested it about 20 times and no problems. Ill post pics of how to do it and what it looks like if i can get a camera this weekend.
