Default TC tyc tail lights

is there a simple way of getting the yellow signal area red on the TYC led tail lights?i have seen a TC that has it and it seems like it's not a red over lay on it.

Prob saw mine if you are in the NY area...I have the rs3 tails from the dealership that sponsors our long island NRG chapter...i'm always all over the island and queens...its a pain in the a$$ to do unless you use overlays...you woul dhave to bake them and then change the lense or dye it, and then reseal them with a very good silicone sealant...a few ppl did it, just search 4 them....I think theres even a how-to

No. You do not bake the TAILS!! That would be bad. You have to cut open the tails.

If you want it to look more professional than overlays, 'google' Vans Lens Paint.
I used it on my TYCs and it looks really clean and very natural. (Pics in "profile".)
The best part; the blinker will blink red, not amber.

^ Looks good! I just ordered a set. How hard was it to remove the bumper for installation?

First the typical disclaimer... I take no responsibility in any errors you make, yada, yada... but to answer your question...

Not tough at all, there was a write-up in this forum, but I don't recall where it is, if you search, you should be able to find it...

But the short version goes like this... there a 10 mm screw in each of the rear wheelwells that you'll need to take out...

Then there's two screws at the top edge of the bumper, right under the hatch...

You will need to start pulling the bumper out at the wheel well and it'll make some popping sounds, but it's not that bad, it's just popping out of the clips that hold the bumper in place...

As you're pulling the bumper away from the body, make your way towards the middle... you will start to make enough room for the lights to come out...

There are other screws under the bumper, but you don't REALLY need to remove the entire bumper to install the taillights... just tilt the top of the bumper back far enough to get to the lights...

The top of the bumper actually slides into the bottom of the lights during reassembly. Other than that, the rest of the process should be pretty simple unbolting and unplugging from inside the cargo area...

Whew, I thought this was going to be the short version... but the write-up is even more detailed with pics.

Let's just say that I got them slightly less than $260 it was a local PPC sale on this site...

But keep in mind that I got the RS3's with the red turn signal... are the ones you were quoted for the RS3's or the regular TYC's with the orange turn signals? I heard that the RS3's are harder to get, which might cost more at a dealership, but I could be wrong...

Yea, they are more expensive than the regular ones, not much harder to get though. I can't wait to get mine in!

yeah i was quoted for the rs3's with the red turn signal too.... i have the regular tyc's and i've been wanting to get the rs3's sooooo bad... actually the rs3's and the regular tyc's are the same price at the dealer

i just had my passenger side tail replaced on warranty, it had all sorts of condensation inside and whatnot. i signed the invoice there at the stealership and the price for my tail was listed at $260 too.

way to steal em for that price for both mang, looks hot!

How long did u have them before they started to go bad? I have heard problems with them condensing and the LEDs going out, but I still wanted them.

Whoa, you mean that the stealership charges $260 for one side? Yikes, I got the pair for less than $260... I guess I didn't even realize what a steal I got !!!

you wouldn't believe what i had to go thru to get that replaced.... i tried nearly every dealer in town to warranty my light but noone wanted anything to do with it.... i had about 42k miles or so when i started having issues with condensation. at 47k i had been to pretty much every dealer. luckily, i have a good buddy at the country club where i used to work mention it to the parts manager of karl malone toyota... he had me come in and ordered a new one right away, it came in 2 days.

i REALLY wanted to badger my way into some rs3's and pay the difference, but after all the hassle i felt it wasn't worth it, and i was being taken care of.

the thing that is so whack about the situation is that elegantebytyc.com specifically states that their products have a limited lifetime warranty and that any defects deemed shotty workmanship ought to be replaced my the tyc dealer.... however, nothing out of a toyota dealership is covered by anything more than a 3 year/36k mile warranty....

contacting tyc is a joke, i think i sent about a dozen emails from their website. goes to show that it really is all about who you know. if you're having issues with your tails, print off the warranty page from tyc and kindly ask the dealer to look into it. there are always ways around it, just gotta find the guys who are willing to get things going.

on a different note, Sciontistical_One, any chance there is another pair floating around somewhere i could snag?
