Default Third Brake Light not working

Hey Scionlife. I did a search but came up empty. Anyone ever had issues with their Third Brake Light not working? I took the car in for inspections and they said it's not working. I didn't know since I'm usually in my car driving . I'm thinking it a blown fuse. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Don't wanna pay an arm and leg for them to just tell me what's wrong with it.

I think if it were a fuse, none of your brake lights would work.

Do you get anything lit up at all on it? Or just nothing? Could have just gone bad or there's a short somewhere.

Sounds like a good time to upgrade that OEM TBL (third brake light) for a full TBL from Oznium.com!

Honestly I didn't even get to take a peak yet at the back. I picked up the car this morning and headed straight to work (still there). I don't have any neon lights or anything like that wired up to anything.

buy the car used? something ever done to the car? could be a loose connection.. bad ground...

alot of factors can come into play.

a fuse would be a culprit if all your brake lights were not working.

They are known to go bad even the new camrys and avalons are having problems although they have a different design from what the tC uses . I think its due to some part of the wire inside of the unit having a bad contact at time which causes it to fail. Just buy a new one from Toyota and keep your reciept or u can try ebay or something if u want a cheaper price.

I have a stock one, mint condition... I'll sell it to you if you want it, or I have a red fully lit one. If you want either one, shoot me a pm with an offer. They're just taking up space right now. Good luck fixing it.

Make sure to double check that you're getting voltage out at the plug. Get a multimeter, put the leads across the plug and verify you've got voltage when you step on the brake.

Assuming all that works, yeah, you'll have to buy a new brake light probably. Unless you feel like doing some of your own trouble-shooting.
