im lookin to tint my classic silver metallic tc soon...and im havin problem of what percent i should get to attain the best look? preferences?

 

20% all around. I have 35% all around and I don't think it's dark enough.

 

Depend on whether you want to get in trouble with the cops or not. If your car is gonna take peoples attention ( loud muffler, big wheels, stickers everywhere) then I suggest you should have 35%. 20% you might be stopped by the cop alot especially if you drive the the ghetto area.

 

i did 35% on mine and ive driven by more than a few cops with no problem, i also took off my front plate. both of which are illegal in chicago. seems like they dont really care with either, but i know i would get hassled if i went any darker than 35%. in my opinion, tint is expensive and you dont want to have to take it off nor have to pay lots of tickets, i say play it safe and go lighter it may not be totally private, but its better than nothing.

 

i just went 5% because i don't like how you can still see in when its 20%

 

i have some 35% on my tc and i dont relay like it that mutch seems a little to light and i have 2 tint tickets in the chicago land are for this tc my mom has 2 for her galant and my dad has 1 for his ram maybe were not lucky but ppl do get pulled over in chicago for it

What is required by law where you guys are at?
In Florida, everything is legal except 5%., and you're not allowed to have the front windshield completely tinted, just a brow. I got 15% on mine. Looks sharp. Dark, but not too dark. Even then, you can pay the tint guy in cash, not get a receipt or warranty, and he'll throw on 5%.

in chicago is 0% on the front, back windows you can go as dark as you want. i think it looks bad though when you have clear front windows and pitch black back ones. im a big fan of continuity. aaron, where are you driving around where you are getting all those tickets? i know cops in the chicago burbs are horrable, but the city cops (except cicero) are pretty slack about it. also how many tickets can you get before you are summoned to court and ordered to remove them.

they say its for our safty, but they just like spying....

 

anybody know of a good tint shop in the east bay, CA? i'm not looking for the cheapest place, but the best quality place. i don't mind paying more now instead of keep going back for bubbles and peeling.

35% all around is good enough for me. As long as the glass isn't clear thats fine.

 

I tinted my hatch 20% and the rest 35%. 20% makes the rest of the tC look darker. Just make sure to get 3M Tint. You might pay more for 3M, but its definitely worth it. If anything happens to it (bubbling, peeling, etc.) they replace it for free.

 

you can go as dark as you want in the back windows as long as the front windows are not tinted. Thats why its ok to have it on the new SUV. If you notice those Lexus SUVs, they have very dark silver tint on the middle and back windows. I think its kinda stupid because I do want more sun protection when im driving. In Aurora, CO, Cops have been known to shoot this special instrument to figure out the % tint.

In New Jersey I know the legal limit is 35% on the front windows and the rest have no limit. How do you think it would look if I did 35% on the front two and 20% on the rest?

 

Keep in mind how often you'll be driving, or more importantly parking, at night. I have 20% all around and still have trouble seeing out the back hatch when in reverse. Lately at night its been nice weather and I've had my windows down so it hasn't been a problem, but on a dark rainy night you may have problems. Especially since we don't have a *&@#%$ rear wiper.

My wife has 15% on her civic and I loathe having to drive that thing at night.

 

i got 5% too, got it for $60 and life time warranty

 

I've got 20% all around, i think it looks good and doesn't become a safety hazard at night time seeing out.

 

I think 30% is good.
