TINT NIGHTMARE, and Overlay ??'s
well i was in advance auto, and there was a cheap roll of 20% window tint for 8$..so i figured i'd get it and play around and try to tint my tail lights, eyelids, and mirror turn signals...
when i used to apply self-adhesed graphics to my motocross bike, i'd spray the surface with rubbing alcohol, and it would let me position it just right before the alcohol evaporated and the graphics stuck....so i was going to try this with the tint and do it to my tail lights...so i sprayed it all and stuck the tint on and began to positions and it wasnt forming to the curves well so i decided to get a hair dryer to heat it....BIG MISTAKE..
the tint was aweful so i pulled it off and was freaked out, the mix of alcohol, heat (which wasnt that hot) and i guess hte tint adhesive, melted my tail light surface... it was white, chalky, and you could feel uneven grooves where the mix had ran down the lights.....so out came the drill, buffing pad, and compound...and had to work for 45minutes to get the light back to original gloss/color......i thought i was gonna have to by a new light....but luckily not...its looks just like the other one..
so do not add heat/alcohol to tint!!!...idk what i did wrong but i'm going to give up on the cheapo tint way...
my quesiton is:..the overlays from ebay and bluebat, etc.....are they curved to the light's curve...or do you have to form them with heat?...also....good quality?..
Just curious and trying to keep others from an hour of frustration....
thanks

http://www.customtc.com/index.htm they have good prices and to install it you have to clean the tail light really good then spray it on with water or windex and squeege it afterwards.

I put on bluebat eyelids a few weeks ago...it's not curved to the headlight but all you need is a lil heat and it'll mold to the shape....probably took me 30 mins for two eyelids and that included washing and the prep of the headlights
idk but i'm gonna order tomorrow the front eyelids,3rd brake light overlay. so i'll let you know when they get here, if the 3rd overlay is good then i'll go ahead and order the side and rear overlays.
no, my friend order the tail light over lays so he hasn't put them on yet. i just ordered the bluebatmobile eyelids and fron side marker and the material seems really good so i hope the tail lights come out good if not then not worth it but i'll let you know how it goes with him.
you could take them to a local shop and get your lights painted. i had them done recently and it looks sweet. I just need to get some new tail lights with clear lenses because you can still see a hint of red in the tail. But my third brake light and turn signals are BLACKED out. I got them to use BSP paint to match my bsp
I thought about that but am afraid my dealership might say painting them voided the warranty, i already had to have my tails replaced under warranty because of the leds going out, and im only at 10k miles
I think im going to buy a pair of taillight tints from the customtc store. Which % do you guys recommend. I think the 20% will be too dark and the cops will _____ at me. Should i go with the 38% or order bluebatmobile overlays?

i'd buy the vinyl material myself and cut/trim it after i applied it to the taillights... which, btw, is better if you remove them from the car first.
