Default Tinted head and tail lights

alright, im getting ready to tint my head lights and tail lights. im taking on the task myself. if anyone has any tips and/or suggestions on how to do it well please let me know. im going with a 20% visibility tint. I have a heat gun and a few squeegees. i think i got it figured out but you never know.

also, i know in !FLORIDA LAW AND FLORIDA LAW ONLY! (not California, not New York, not Virginia) that tail lights must be visible at 1000 feet during the day and headlights (low beams) must light up to 150 feet ahead of you. brights - 450 feet

my only concern is that 20% might be too dark in the front... ill figure it out.

any help would be great also if you have any idea how far my lights will shine after 20% tint let me know. Thanks!

Sounds like window tint to me. If it is, it won't work.

Or you can spray. I did my taillights with VHT nightshades. cost like 5 bucks and a can of clearcoat from a hobby store. for like 3 bucks. Very easy process. and you can control how light or dark you want it either on the spot or say a year later. ALso tinting the headlights just seem like a no-no to me lol

well i did some research and its not illegal. like i said above, 1000 feet visibility.

how did he spray come out? i was going to buy some of that but i was worried it would come out like crap and i wouldnt be able to fix it since it cant be removed.
I guess thats my only option really. im not spending 60 bucks for overlays from decalfx.com. one little mistake and i wasted all that money.

if anyone has used the VHT nite shades and has any tips on doing that please post them. also, if you have pictures or feel like taking some close up pictures post them too. thanks a lot.

Actually, what you said was a rule for California (check dmv and nhtsa)
Rule for ny is no tint on the headlight at all.
For Florida, as long as light goes through it, it is legal.
Uhh I think virginia allows them but 80% of the light has to go through the tint for it to become legal. And yes, cops have an equiptment to check

No, it is the fact you have the wrong information you probably found on some other forum when you saw an unknown member's reply as to what the legality is. Besides, your post is about how to tint your lights. So chill your horses and if someone who lives in another state might find this helpful

that site sucks. give me a direct link to lighting laws or regs or just stop posting. the url i posted is a direct link to FLORIDA'S laws. like i said before... i dont care about any other state. i live in florida... where my car is... where i abide by the laws for florida. Do you understand that? i dont know how to be any clearer.

Direct quote from "Stateofflorida.com"
"""Lights:
Your car must have the following lights:

* Bright (high-beam) headlights which show objects 450 feet ahead.
* Dimmed (low-beam) headlights which show objects 150 feet ahead.
* Two red taillights mounted on the rear, visible from 1,000 feet.
* A white light that makes the license plate visible from 50 feet (The plate must be kept clean).
* Two red stoplights. They must be seen from 300 feet in the daytime, and must come on when the foot brake is pressed.

All vehicles, including animal-drawn vehicles, must have at least one white light visible from a distance of not less than 1,000 feet to the front. They must also have two red lights visible from a distance of not less than 1,000 feet to the rear, or one red light visible to the rear for a distance of 1,000 feet and two red reflectors visible from all distances from 600 feet to 1,000 feet. """"

Lol ouch. striker just let him do what he wants. If its legal itz fine. If it isnt most cops dont even care anyway unless you african american them. And yeah itz pretty easy if you follow the DIY. Just remember to get a good clearcoat spray. its mostly how well you sand and buff. Spraying is easy. Never spray close. NEver spray at 1 spot for a long time. You wanna do light spray motion.

alright, the first time i did mine i got pulled over and recieved a faulty equipment ticket because they were too dark, i took it off and got out of the ticket, i did it for a second time( lighter) and never got pulled over with them, eventually i took it off again, i used normal spray paint and had no problems, just watch out for troopers they are the ones that will get you
