im thinking about tinting my taillights, but i dont know how they look on the 08 tails...
does anyone have pics?

Huh? I thought the '08 tails were already dark, not red like prior years, so why tint them?

He probably wants to tint them so you dont see the the red circles. I havent seen them painted but definatly do not do a full smoke with an overlay. Some people might like the way it looks but I don't because in the light you can see through the overlay, so the red circles will still be visible just darker.

well i like my 08, but i just wanted them slightly darker....but now that ive seen how it looks....ima leave it as is

 

good choice. I have some 30% tinted vinyl coming in the mail and I plan on hand cutting an overlay similar to Bat's '08 upper lid overlay to acheive the same effect just darker. You might want to consider this. I will post pics by friday for you.

I didnt like how when the light reflected off the chrome part and through the overlay it made it look brown. It isn't too noticeable on a lighter colored car like the ones on his site but on my black you could defiantly tell.

Even with the darker vinyl, if you get up real close to it in direct sunlight you get a bit of the browning effect but its much less noticable:


and that is in direct sunlight. As you can see there is much less browning.
So if you are looking for something to do with you 08s you might want to consider that.

i just bought an extra set of tails and i plan on baking them open and doing some custom stuff with Nightshades and some white rattle can.
that is all ill say.

Noo! You can not bake tail lights. I wanted to do the same thing but its a good thing I asked around because was told that tail lights are not like head lights; if you bake your tails they will melt. The only way to open them is with a dremmel and a lot of courage :-P . People have done this with 05-07s and then fused the pieces back together but I don't know how well it would turn out on 08s because the lens is clear so you would be able to see where it was cut.

nice, post pics asap :-). What I really wanted to do was to open them and tint just the red plastic. Once I found out I'd have to cut em open I came up with new ideas lol.

 

are 08 taillights the same size as 07? I am trying to order vinyl for the 08 but on ebay they only show the ones for 07 and lower

 

yeah they're the same size, but I wouldnt recommend smoking out the whole 08 tail with vinyl. It won't look that good.

the extra set of tail should be arriving tuesday, and hopefully theyll be done thursday night cuz i want them on my car for a show next sat.

If I dont smoke out the taillight how else can I hide the ugly red dots? I hate them haha
