The tint shop I went to only offered 2 choices- 15 & 35 (they also had 5, but wouldn't even offer it). I ended up getting 15 on everything but the windshield. It looks awesome, but is totally illegal here (30 is the limit), and a little difficult to see out of at night. They're going redo my front passenger side anyway, since there is a little hair in the film, so I think I'm going to get the front-side windows both changed to the 35.

the darker the better IMO what ever is the legal limit in what ever state your in is what i would do......i've got SW tc and i've got mirror tint and it looks sooo clean......that would look just as good on your silver streak, if not better....but go as dark as you legally can, what ever tint you get

Man, I wish my car was officially mine once because I got my liscense .

Seriously though 20% all around looks nice. 15% a little better. Anything darker might pose a problem driving at night.

It's commonly known that tinted windows are one of the first things car thieves look for. First because it is assumed someone with tinted windows is hiding something in there, ad secondly because it makes it much easier to break the glass and get into your car. If you tint your windows your chances of someone breaking into your car rises exponentially.

Innnnteresting, how is it easier to break the glass when tint actually reinforces it? Ya know Hurricane protection is just very thick film right?

I have had 5% tint on my back 3 windows for 2 weeks now. At first there was a noticable difference in the visibility...after 2 days, my eyes adapted to the 5% tint and I can't tell the difference in visibility from stock tint. Night is the easiest to see out of 5% because no matter how dark your windows are...you can't miss other car's headlights. Don't worry about visibility, you will get used to it so fast, you won't even be able to tell the difference. My tc has 5% on the back 3, 50% on the front side two and a 5% front strip.

I read that if your tint is darker than what your state allows if you get in an accident your insurance company doesn't have to pay because they can claim the tint obstructed your vision.

Not sure if it's true or not but something to consider if you're wanting to chance tickets and go too dark.

Instead of breaking into many pieces, it breaks cleaner and quietly in one big piece that is easy to pull out.

On a silver I would go with the mirror/reflective tint. Makes the car look sleeker. I have a white tc and got 20% on the back and 35 on the sides (legal limit). and boy does it look sweet!

How do you know tint increases chances of a break-in? Any statistics/sources on that?

i plan on doing 25-30% on the rear sides and hatch, and 50-60% on the front sides. i may go even less on the sides depending on what it looks like after seeing samples and stuff. i want something on it, but i also dont want the hastle of a possible ticket. being bright red, i attract enough attention as it is.
