before taking any advice from anyone call up the company you got your hood from(the makers) and see if they advise you to wax it or what not.
alot of the cheaper carbon fiber hoods do not react well to wax or products of the sort.
my advice would be:
-once you get it checked out, if it doesnt have a clear coat, then put one on.
-if it does have a clear coat ask the company if you can add another one.
-keep the car outta the sun as much as possible, carbon fiber tends to yellow when exposed to heat for long periods of time.
-once the hood is cleared/okayed for wax, wax it every two-three weeks to maintain the shine.

well i got the vis one, the clear coat on it is really good, what do u think i should do about the hole sun thing? cuz i park my car in the sun while im at home cuz i dont have a garage
keep it waxed, thats all i can say.
VIS is top notch quality so dont worry about the clear.
one suggestion, which is what i am probably going to do when i get my cf hatch is paint it to match your body color.. looks pimp!!

2.) It wont's attract people you don't want to attract (ie. carjackers)
3.) It will protect your investment.
4.) As said by blackonblacktc it "looks pimp".
just my opinion, BUT
1.) these cars attract cops anyways, just don't drive like an idiot
2.) same as above, keep stuff hidden in the car
3.)waxing will do the same thing
4.) if by "looks pimp" you mean looks "stock" and no one knows its cf then ok i guess?
just my opinion. anyways, lets keep this on track I wanna hear what people have to say about upkeep! although I don't think there is much beyond a good clear coat and waxing.

It may have been painted originally because good clear-coats weren't available and it was made purely as a weight-saving material.
It originally wasn't as pretty as it is today either.
Aerospace, racing, etc. have used it a long time - since it was "unobtanium" and very expensive.
For anyone short of a real racer, etc., CF should be left seen!
hey scott its all good haha.. i mean i will have it on the car for a little while until i get the funds to paint it.
but for that little while, i will have a car that actually looks fixed up
