Default Trunk won't stay up

My trunk won't stay up, it'll slowly go down, faster and faster. How can I fix this, or would I have to replace the hydraulic strut or whatever its called (there's 2 of them)

It use to stay up when i first got it, but I noticed it got weaker, and weaker, and nowadays, i have to hold it up with my arm, or keep it on the top of my head as i get things in and out of the trunk.

Do you have any type of spoiler? The extra weight will cause them to fail prematurely TRDsparks.com has replacement struts on their website. You will need to get some new ones.

My hatch shocks are shot... I wedge a shoe in there when I need it open for extended periods. True story.

whats a hatch, is that the "trunk" i speak of? how much is a hatch...

man i just installed my replacement spoiler, took me HOURS to get all that gray gunk adhesive off.

i have a white tc, i think it would be a little funny looking to have a carbon fiber hatch. and maybe a little fobby too.

Dont get a CF hatch that is like a $600 fix for a 50 dollar problem. Also with a CF hatch you are suppose to get weaker shocks because the stock ones are too strong for the lite hatch. Even if yours are weaker they will probably still be too strong.

^^those that carbonxe posted are what comes with the pedestal spoiler when you buy it. They are stronger than the ones that come on the car without a spoiler. Trust us those are the ones, carbon has actually bought those and said they worked.

Mine went out this weekend. How much are dealer struts?
Are these better? Will the truck open easier? Will they last atleast another 5 years?

Toyota said they will replace both of mine under extended warranty.
I was hoping they would say no, so I could purchase the high strength TRD ones for only $45. Even the dealership will special order them for only $45.

Either way, the car / struts go to the dealer on Thursday for full replacement!

Tell them you want the "high strength" ones and you'll pay for them. It only takes 2 mins per strut and a flat head screw driver. And why do you want "high strength" struts for the hatch?
