Default Umnitza DDE Support Thread - Post Questions Here

I've been getting a lot of questions about DDE installs and support questions. If you have any or are looking into purchasing and would like questions resolved by those who have them, please post here...

I'd like to keep this on topic regarding support for DDE's and Headlight Baking/Install, not the product themselves or opinions... That way any information I share can be read by others, hopefully not duplicating questions.

well I got my kit today and began install. I was a little disappointed that neither umnitza or CC didnt provide a wiring diagram. Its not that hard to figure out but I did have to do some research.
I used apoxy to glue the rings in and BROKE one of the large rings. I was being so careful but these things are highly fragile. The most annoying part is I am going to have to resemble the lights so I can drive and then do this whole thing over again when I get the replacement. Hopefully I can contact umnitza tomorrow and rush another ring to me....how annoying.

wow that sucks to hear. I just placed my order last nite, guess I'll be extra extra careful when handling the rings... What kind of epoxy did you choose?

These rings are fragile... when glueing, do not push them out or it... mine all fit with little pressure neccesary to be put on them... Not having a wiring diagram is something that I see as a positive suggestion, but tapping into the parking lights is just fine and has worked very well for me.

I see no reason to use a wiring harness or relay...

I've got the lights physically inside my housing and everything reassembled but I've got no clue how to wire them up. I hooked up the DDEs to the ballasts (or whatever the black boxes are) and then stopped. Can you post some pics on where this harness hooks up to my existing car wiring? Then are all the ring connections for ground? What is the pink wire with the flat connector for? It seems to come out of the harness in the middle of the front grill. I just want to hook them up to my parking lights.

It seems like this:

is key, but I'm not too sure whats going on. Does that bulb with the white/green wires have its wires cut and those are connected to the ballasts?

Btw You guys should also consider throwing in a print out of that pdf with the box. Found it halfway thru the baking process. It sure would have made my life easier.

Thanks.

I will also be wiring these in the next 2-3 days. Can any of the people that bought these or any of the companies that retail these please post step-by-step wiring instructions? It would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't use the relay, since these things pull so little power... I just tapped into my city lights (The little wedge bulbs under the low beams) for power for the DDE's... Just hook up positive to positive and negative to negative and test.

I hooked them up backwards the first time and it didn't work, so I turned it around and yippee. It help if you had a tester, but trial and error could work too.

You can use T-Taps or any other wire tap that lets you add on to existing wiring.

The last thing I want is another long set of wires in my engine bay....
