Default !!UPDATE 8-08-06 - TC Carbon Fiber Gas Lid GROUP BUY? :)

Anybody want to get a Carbon Fiber Gas Lid for the tc? I'm working with somebody that can either lay cf on top of our existing gas lids, or make one from a mold of ours. He can also make it cheaper by making the core out of fiberglass. So i just want to kno who's interested? i'm gonna personally get my self one first so i can show u actuall pics and to be more comfortable. He's gonna send me pics of the tc one he already has done. I'm also doing this same gb for my prelude and that gas cover should arrive next week or so, then i can easily tell how good his work is.

This is the email he sent me after i had conversed with him on getting cf gas lids for both the tc and my prelude peeps as well as headlight covers and door pillars for my prelude.

"YEah i had H22 and this is about 7 - 8 years back! I still have pictures only could run 13.4 on quatermile and that was at 8 PSI and 40 shot nitrous. 1/8 mile was ridiculos like 11 seconds THis is on street tires of corse soon i slap the slicks the axles went puff! i did my engine mounts myself back then we didnt had anyone making motormounts ill try find them pictures and email you some too. im on backup PC still otherone fryed.

AS for pricing tell you what let me know what the pricerange you guys looking for ill see what i can do. I like to Work for people like me. Not get rich out people like me..
thats why you see my items at so low prices compared to other dealers doing same job with less quality materials and almost double prices.

anyway let me know what ballpart the guys looking to pay for the parts. I beliave i have molds for the door trim pillars made them while back 3-4 years will have do check fitment but if anything then will make new ones ok.

as for the dooor trim and the headlight covers if i remeber them right im pretty sure i can do Full replacements out CF ill probably have 1 layer or fiberglass to give it more strenght at reducing the price but if anyone is interested in having it cover in 3 layers of CF im up for it. however price will be 2x times or so.

for cosmetic the covers can be done with fiberglass as core to reduce pricing that how all hood and trunk, spoilers are done these days. unless you specify you want it Full race or all Out CF which i seen hoods go for $1000 4-5 layers of CF. like my SRT-4 hood =) 9 pounds with full frame anyway let me know what you want do.
pictures ill do on weekend should have other PC up and running by then

-Rafael "

this is an example of what it will look like.

this is his ebay store..

http://stores.ebay.com/Carbon-Works

his feedback is great as well as his quality.

I hope we can get enough to get a really good price on these if we get enough people and possibly find a cheaper way to get the lids, or hopefully he can get a good price on the lids to be wrapped.

and i would assume the price will be around from 50-100 all depending on how much it costs to get the lid or if it will be extremely cheaper to send him our own lid or if we can find a place to get the stock lids cheap.

And yesterday i picked up cf hoods from my sponsor and he informed me that the price of cf has gone up because of the shortage on cf.. i have heard this for a while now from others but now its true.. in the next month or so prices will start goin up so i'm hoping we can get this done asap and be able to save money and avoid the price increases.

!!! UPDATE 3-29-08 !!!
well good and bad news.. i got an update from him and he has the molds made and will have mine done by friday.. and hopefully get mine shiped out asap..

the problem is from what he states he only wants to do 20 people.. i have contacted him to explain for the reasons why we can't have more people on the gb... but he will guarantee fitment.

here is the email he sent me. -

"I have been extremely busy but i will have the first door by friday molds are done =)
AS for people loosing interest i dont really care i will only make 10 doors + yours which is the one be ready by friday.

Price be $80 +10 shipping&handling via priority mail And for international $30 Via global express

I will guarantee fitment On the 10 doors, I will guarante the item be shipped on 2-4 weeks after payment. If for any reason i cannot ship item 4weeks after payment i will automatically refund payment. (with a note of when i can have item shipped) buyer then decides they ok with new shipping date can just resummit payment.
Any Issue with item quality or fitment will be fix with replacements unless we decided is no worth it and then refund minus shipping and handling be issue with return of product in same condition as we shipped.

email me the first 10 paypal accounts,I will send each one a Bill for the Item. That way i can keep track if no payment in 5 days, We skip to next person on list. until we have all 10 payments.
I will update you once every payment is summited so you can fix the post list.

Now is all up to you and your people if they really interested then have them payup otherwise ill just finish your door and thats it...."

second email -

"If you really have 26 people on the list then i may extend the GB to 20 but not one more. And i will instant refund $5 to everyone on that made payment once all 20 payment have been received."

so this is what i sent to him last night to confirm and clarify everything -

"Great thank you so much.. I will have payment for my door ready asap.. so when my door is done by friday u can send me pix.. and send it to me..

So the deal will be i will have 20 people and not one more, send me there paypal addy that i in return send to u to send the bill to..

Price will be $80 +10 shipping&handling via priority mail And for international $30 Via global express

what would be considered international?.. since i believe one person is near you, and i'm unsure if thats international or not.

Then if we have 20 confirmed payments, you will refund each person $5 since it hit 20 orders..and after each payment you will gaurantee 2-4 weeks to ship the gas doors to them + the amount of time it takes to deliver to them.

How do u plan to guarantee ftiment? do u have a test vehicle?

and is there any reason why you won't go over 20 people? just curious. thx again.. i will post this on the board asap.. but i would assume some people may send payment after i post pics of my gas door lid to prove to them everything is safe and legit

pls answer my questions above.. and sorry for asking so many questions just want to get everything strait and for me to understand everything.

I am very happy to do business with you and hope this all turns out great.

Thank you."

second email i sent after the first one -

"I just checked the forum.. and just wanted to let u kno the list has gone up to 27 people + 8 maybe's i kno u may not want to go over 20 i just wanted to inform u about it.. if u only want 20 then i will set it up to be the first 20 payments... thx again."

New email update - 4-11-06

"no havent ship out yet its done but i want test fit before shipping ill snap some pictures and send them to you in couple days."

so if we don't hit 20 payments it will be $80 + 10 s/h and for international $30 Via global express, i'm still waiting for a reply to understand what would be international for him..

and if we hit 20 payments we will be refunded $5

and this will be full cf replacements and guaranteed fitment.

I will be sending him my money for my gas door lid tonight or tommorow so he can send me mine asap and we can get pics and quality of it..

the problem is i don't kno if we should set this up with the first 20 payments made or go down the list and see how many people pay then swap them with someone else on the list further down, and if we should give an amount of time to pay up..

Here is the prelude one i got

it is cf laid even though this one looks amazing... our full cf will even look crazier

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 8-8-06

HOW TO REMOVE STOCK GAS DOOR LID AND INSTALL A FULL CF GAS DOOR LID.

AND YES I HAVE CONFIRMED THE WHOLE THING IS CF NO FIBERGLASS AT ALL.. THE WHOLE BACK MOLD IS CF

Well i finnally got it installed yesterday and it looks great.. was a lil hard to get the hinge off the stock door but after that it was easy

MAKE SURE TO BLUE TAPE AROUND THE AREA ON THE GAS DOOR AND ON THE BODY OF THE CAR.. JUST TO HELP PREVENT SCRATCHES.. I ENDED UP SCRATCHING THE INSIDE OF THE GAS DOOR HOLE BECAUSE I DIDN'T TAPE UP.

I took pics so it will help on install - the text is part mine and the guy creating these cf doors

1.
you will need bolts with nuts you can remove the rubber cover around the gas cap it only has a metal wire around the edge that will give you access to the back side so you can put the nut and hold inplace while you tight the front.

2.
remove the stock door from the car by removing the 2 factory rivets.
just use a drill to break the (alumiun rivets) they are very fragile so dont put to much force on the drill. your not looking to drill hole tru it you just want to take as much material of the front of rivet as possible then either use flat head screw drive with little force will break the rivet or just tap the inside so the rest of the rivet go tru the hole.

this was before i put on the cf door but used the bolts to hold down the stock ones on.

3. once you have the door and the bracket out remove the metal bracket from the stock door. by first removing the plastic stopper, then prying open the 2loops that hold the bracket to the metal pin on the stock door.

these are the tools i used to pry it off the gas door..

PRY IT OPEN ENOUGH so it can slip on to the cf door

4.
once they been open a bit you be able to slide the metal bracket onto the CF pin.

Then bend the loops back so they close tight but not to tight, install the plastic stoper back and you are done.

MAKE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE LOOPS ENOUGH SO THE DOOR DOESN'T MOVE FREELY TOO EASILY OR ELSE IT WON'T SIT AS FLUSH AS POSSIBLE WHEN MOUNTED.

AND BE CAREFUL BENDING THE LOOPS BACK REMEMBER ITS CF SO U CAN CRACK SOMETHING IF UR NOT CAREFULL.

and here are the final pics.. i think it could sit flusher if i used smaller bolt heads or squeezed the the loops better but i'm extremely satisfied..

let me kno what u guys think and if ur still interested in the group buy.

I've recently been looking for this.

Just noticed he's from PR! I wonder if he's near me...

How did you get in touch with him, via the eBay e-mail link?

I don't care about cost, but HELL NO to CF overlay.
It has to be a CF kit, period.
If so, I'm in.
Again, I don't care about cost.
Count me in.

When u say provide him one to be layered does dat mean that its goin to be and overlay or its still going to be a full carbon fiber lid...sorry for the silly question just want to be sure and if it is goin to be a full carbon fiber lid i dont mind letting him use mine

it all depends on how much everybody wants to pay, if u guys want to buy a full cf lid or get it laid on top of ur existing one.. so when i get my cf one for my prelude we'll kno the quality.. i wish i could do this faster in time for HIN but if were gonna do this right i would want to make sure everyone feels comfortable especially me and that we get what we all want and i would definitely want one made out of full cf and i guess the mounting brackets etc.. i dunno if we use our own or if the make them.
