I got into an accident and i've decided to replace the stock, broken stuff with sweet, awesome stuff. So, i liked the Kaminari body kit. Saw it on tCTunerz.com. i then came here because the people on Scionlife are generally helpful. Well, turns out tCTunerz doesn't exactly have the best reputation ever. So, i needed the kit relatively soon and i put my order in. It was kind of dumb if i were to go by reputation alone, but i wanted to give you guys a honest-to-God test case to watch (if you want) and also hopefully get a body kit in my hands within the next two weeks.

I'm not affiliated with anyone. Not sponsored by anyone. Just trying to give you guys a view of at least ONE person's experience with a vendor that is getting trashed. And posting things like "they suck. F***ers!!!" and the like aren't really helpful, but that's up to you guys i guess....

And so with that intro, here goes! i put my order in on Tuesday, June 21st, 2005. At around 5-6PM. Probably after their normal hours. I ordered the 4 piece Kaminari kit (polyurethane, though the invoice doesn't say it....) WITH paint, so it's supposed to come painted which is why the cost is 700-800 dollars more than normal. Received this email as order confirmation (i'm going to edit info i don't want to just put out for everyone just in case.. editted items will have three *'s by them)

So, there's that. No other info yet. No charge on my card yet either. Their website says that. i added a comment on the order form about wanting to be informed if there was going to be a delay in their normal delivery process (shipping a body kit could understandably be longer than, say.. , a pair of carbon fiber eyelids. Anyway, they haven't gotten back to me, and i just told the body shop to order all stock front bumper parts. i might as well, just in case. If the body kit comes in within the week that my car's in the shop then i can get it installed, but if i don't then i'll at least have a bumper to be able to drive my car home.

So, i'll update this thread everytime i get updates or every couple of non-updates. Wish me luck!

One thing I will mention, is that there was a claim that TcTunerz was exclusive on the Urethane version of the Kaminari kit. At least one other person responded by saying they talked to Kaminari, and it was in fact true. HOWEVER, I called Kaminari myself and they assured me it was not true, TcTunerz is NOT exclusive on the Urethane kit for the tC. Maybe the guy I talked to at Kaminari gave me wrong info, but I doubt it. Anyway Kaminari told me to go ahead and sell it, so its on my site now. Fiberglass and Urethane are listed on Kaminari's site for the same price. I sell it pretty cheap. I sold 2 Kaminari carbon hoods already to 2 ladies here on SL, and they are both extremely happy. Hope you end up just as happy.

Heck, i might cancel my order (even if this experiment was supposed to be for some greater research). It's still pending. I'm just not sure how to do it... the site is slow and it's hard finding a way to get a hold of them by phone.

 

Your greater research most likely will be greater gambling, really, sad but true.

I was checking something out there for another person and saw an add for the Phantom Grip LSD. Since I know the PG folks well, they are a sponsor on my car, I called to let them know about tcTunerz and that they may not want their name associated with them. Turns out they do not even know who tcTunerz are! So, why would a supposed internet dealer have a manfs parst listed for sale when the manf does not know they even exist? Rather fishy if you ask me.

I met Duanne back in early 2002 at the first Matrix owners meet in CA(I organized it) He emailed me about coming to the meet with some of his buddies, sure I said, once there he was all smiles and cool, alot of talk about all the great parts they were building for our cars, etc, etc. Over the next 6-8 months or so numerous people I know lost money, only one got a CF hood he paid quite a bit for, it was so horrible he ended up tossing it into the trash.

Ok, some real world reporting here, not just internet gossip;)

I would call your CC company and see what they can to do block a debit from your account.

really appreciate it. AFTER i put my order in... i got a little annoyed that i didn't receive any response for so long. So, i did a little bit of a deeper search about tCTunerz and it only got worse. So, now i'm really contemplating seeing if i can block it, just in case. Nothing's been charged yet, but i'd hate to be in a situation where i do get charged.

So, i'll continue to update this thread as i get more info, but right now tCTunerz has left me in the dark to what exactly i'm supposed to expect. And thanks again for writing about your experience. Still giving them a chance to act properly, but we'll see....

I guess it is your money bro but I do not understand why you would continue to gamble on this. Even if he delivers he has burned so many bridges it will not make a difference in how he is percieved by the general populace of the internet as he has ripped off so many people over the years. Yes, I said years, I am quite suprissed he has not had his **** kicked really hard at least a few times, then again maybe he has.

I would try my luck at the roulette table and I am not a gambler, before taking a chance with this guy.

P.S. I am not on some vendeta against him, that is not how I operate, just stating my personal observations and some from others I personally know, not internet gossip, just bad juju to deal with this guy.

omg.. why do people waste their money like this? This guy Duanne did the SAME exact thing back when the corolla forums had C3..(I dunno if some of you corolla guys remember this) but yeah.. he was ripping people off left and right... and from the money, he did a horrible orange corolla converted into a 2D...

You have me a bit concerned, just wondering now if you have some kind of link to this guy? Not trying to start any sheat here but why would you continue to deal with this situation with all you have been warned about and with the lack of communications with him? Just does not make any sense. Maybe you are just a really nice guy that thinks he may have made a life changing turn around and is ok now so you want to help him out. Please, that has been tried for decades with our justice system and is a major part of why we now have hundreds of thousands of thugs roaming the streets and behind bars, wrist slaping the criminal insane did not work out, only created a much bigger monster. Those that blantanly lie and cheat their way through life rarely change, almost impossible for them to do so and somebody doing it this long and to this level obviously is not likely to suddenly become an honest man.

hey! Sorry, i thought i made it clear that i was doing my best to cancel the order. The only problem is that i'm not getting any feedback so it's like my order is in some kind of limbo.

So, i still want the kit, that's true. But not from him. Especially considering the fact that i don't even know if i'd ever get it. i made the order after some preliminary incomplete research. i had no idea the extent of the deceit tctunerz seems to be pulling all over. Now i do and what little trust i had in the tarnished name seems to be coming back to possibly bite me in the butt.

Regardless, when i get word either way on whatever is going on, i'll be sure to update you guys.

I would not wait any longer then, I would call my CC company and see about a stop payment of some sort, really suprised he has not just taken the money already. Maybe his CC company kicked him out!

Hmm.. i was wondering about that. Like how easy is it to just stop payment? Do i have to wait til afterwards to file a dispute or something? i mean, i guess it's a simple enough call to make to the CC company, but if anyone knew beforehand then it'd be good to know. i'll probably try to call tomorrow to just see, just in case.

 

Ok, called my credit card company. They said that they can't stop someone from charging me if i've already given them my info. The only thing i can do is wait for them to post and then dispute it. I asked the guy how much time he had to post the payment, and he said that they have 365 days. So... i've gotta watch my statements for the next year to be sure nothing sneaky happens.

It's almost been a week since i ordered and there's still no word, so only 51 weeks left.

 

TctunerZ has an online chat function if you want to talk with them. I used it last week to answer some questions about an order I made. You should give that a try.

 

Update: Well, Quick called me today to get my CVV number. Told him i was going to cancel. And he was cool about it. I also asked him what the turn around time would be just in case I wanted to purchase it for real later down the road. And he said it'd probably be about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Like 2-3 days to process and about a week to get it painted by the person who does all their paint (if you want it painted ) and then 2-3 days to deliver.

Now I can't guarantee all that. Unfortunately this little project was aborted. Got cold feet. Anyway, maybe next time........

So in conclusion, tCTunerz still hasn't proven to me that they're unreliable, but the lack of communication doesn't help their rep. Quick says he tried to contact me, but I didn't get any messages on my machine and his number came up as "private" when i did pick up. Also I received very little in the way of emails. And the emails I did receive were like...

Either way, finally getting a reliable exchange with the customer a full 8 days after he/she initially puts in the order is a bit on the slow side. i put my order in on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 6:19 PM and got the call about 10 minutes ago. Ok, well, anyway, might be too much useless information, but just in case someone wanted to know....

Oh yeah, and my car is out of the shop tomorrow! Yippee!

 

True fact. I am one of them.

House of Scion/Wholesale Hyperformace really came through for me with the Reverse Cowl CF hood. I actually received a call saying my hood was in a couple weeks before they said it would probably be in. I couldn't have been happier with the purchase/transaction.

I definitely recommend Ray and his companies.
