VRD Grill fake chrome painting.
Ok I bought a VRD grill off ebay was supposed to be plain black. It came some dark chrome color. It took two weeks to get here and I'm supposed to be repainting my car and doing a few custom things to it in two weeks. If i send it back its going to take forever to straighten out. I was planning on painting it anyways to a dark metallic gray which brings me to my dilemma.Whats the coating made of?Should i use a metal etch primer or a plastic adhesion promoter.I tried searching the web but I guess there are a few ways to do fake chrome.Any one have any clue how I should go about preping this?
I have the VRD (titanium finish) grille. I'm pretty sure you can just sand it, apply primer then paint it like any regular plastic object. Bump for a more detailed diy instructions from anyone here in SL (coz I haven't done it yet). But 100% its just plastic.
If its not raw plastic or soft plastic and the chrome is painted on. All you need to do is sand it with a high grit sand paper like 800 and paint. Or do 320 but then you'll need to use a sealer to fill the tiny scratches.
