So apparently eBay sellers are just using "VRD" as a keyword now as they do for JDM crap. Sad too. People are going to see VRD and think they're real. I'd rather spend less and get the ones labeled as JDM. Same thing.

And I'm pretty sure that guy has no clue what I'm actually asking.

I have a couple more emails out to some of the other "vrd" listings to see what they say. That just happened to be the only one to reply so far.

 

thats great to know! Glad I got my VRD grills back before VRD copies were made. But I got rid of them now anyways. But still this is ridiculous. This is one reason why ebay gets such a bad rep.

 

the upper one is interesting it says its metal and it looks like it matches the bottom buy it and see how fitment is. it said perfect fitment if it is i could see that being a hott seller

Haha, I'm not spending $60 on something like that. If I had $60 to throw away, sure. There a lot of things like that I'd love to buy and test fit. I don't think that one is anything like VRD though - looks more like a chicken wire type of mesh than the thick plastic that VRDs are. The "JDM" ones are more VRD than this.

The whole reason I was looking is that I may pick up a set to replace my FIG grilles. Love the FIGs and all but want to get back to something a little more OEM-ish for when I get rid of the car (next year?).

Ya, I thought of that - but figured I would just sell off the FIG ones now and use that money for the other grilles. Plus I kind of wanted a "change." And who knows... maybe I'll still do a "trade" down the road with the VRDs.

Well the one that I asked that said they were NOT VRDs is only for the upper grille.

I have been debating picking up a set of the "JDM" ones to really see how they fit though.

Someone has those grills on this site. I dont remember who but I remember he was trying to sell them. Personally I dont think the fitment will flow. Looks nice though.

 

So I was thinking that if I'm already getting a VRD set - get the "JDM" or generic ones and put them side by side. Then try installing and see how each goes. A true comparison...

Just don't know if I want to drop the extra $70... even though I could probably resell for $50+.

The SPEEDINFINITI seller is still there and has a good price ($62) but has $12 shipping. The d1performance guy has the best price at $70 shipped (for the "JDM" ones).

 

just to let you know, the fitment was not all that for the grills. Better then expected but definitely not VRD fitment. The sides had a good amount of gap.

 

Ya, that's what I thought I remembered about the JDM ones.

While I was reading through I actually ordered a set from d5_concepts, who was one of the sellers that "confirmed" they were VRD. So hopefully fitment is good. $93 shipped.

Ya, a few minutes ago. After reading through more of that thread and seeing some of the fitment issues, I wanted to be sure I got actual VRDs... at least by the seller's word.
