Default VRD vs Hella Micro DE .. undecided ?

Hi guys, I need your experience/input about these fogs. I've seen the Hella on Neothin's ride and the VRDs on others as well and they both look beautiful.

1. VRD: High price=high quality. No need to drill or modify the pseudo vents, etc... Is it safe to put HIDs in these fogs ? I mean in the item description " Do not use bulbs that exceed the recommended voltage." If installed yourself, how was it (the hardest part) ?

2. Hella Micro DE: about half price of VRDs ($140 shipped on ebay without HID), i plan to have the same setup like Neothin (sorry to be a copycat but the hella really got my attention). Same question, how was the installation ? briefly DIY maybe ? Ebay is the only option to buy ?

Lastly, please help a brother out by posting some GOOD pics. ive seen them in front of the car, how about some light output on the road without headlights on and off ( maybe in driver seat or on top of sunroof )? Very appreciated.

install on the micro de's takes 10 minutes. seriously, drill a hole, put a bolt through, screw the bolt into the foglight and voila your done. the wiring harness takes 1/2 hour to do just so you can make it clean. total time is like 1-1.5 hours.

well, i didn't install it myself, i had people over at vertexracing install it for me. It doesn't look that hard, all it took is 30 minutes for them and what the most improtant thing for me is that there is no drilling involved. The fog lights just clip right in and the fog lights came with wiring harness so there's no splicing also. After i got home, i looked over the installation instruction that they gave me, very easy. I could probably do it within one hour myself. If you are in Socal, just give them a call they will help you out and they will answer all your questions.

If you plan to get HIDs on your fogs, I recommend go with the Micro DEs because they're projector fog lights... I think.

Unlike the VRDs, they're just made with reflective housings. So it is not recommended to put HIDs in it.... I think.

^^ I know. I didn't say it's not good to put HIDs in VRDs or any reflective headlight housing. That's why I used the word recommended. Just like putting HIDs in stock headlight housings. It is "recommended" to get projectors for HIDs to focus the light on the road and not to oncoming traffic...

i'm not sure if that's the low with fogs or not... but, to get just the fogs, you need to mess with the wiring. tcridinclean did asked about it. just don't know if he did it yet.

I'll just wait for a company that will manufacture projector fog lights specifically designed for our car. No need to rush into things....

There are 2 kinds of Micro DEs... the first is the $150 a pair (eBay price) which are for standar halogen bulbs and has a standard reflector housing with one of those plastic lens pieces with little bumps on it ... the second are the ones made for Hella's Xenon lights which cost $650 a pair (eBay price) and I believe those are more like a "projector" housing but still not.
