thinking about getting HID's but dont know whether to get 5300 or 6000 color temp... some pics of 6000 are to blue, so are nice and white...maybe some can post some pics of each on there tC... i want a nice bright white with some blue, which from wat i have read is 6000 but i see some pics and it looks just blue to me...
anything over 5000K is worthless IMO... stock luxary vehidcles are 4300K.. you lose output after 5000K. but everyone wants the"look at me i stick out" color temp.. sorry, not a fan of colored bulbs.. HID is for visibility.. not color.. i think everyone who wants HID's should read alot over at www.hidplanet.com/forums.. a little info goes along way.. i say 5000K.. color should only come from projectors.. but that is me..
yea and you team a 5k bulb w/o projects and you blind the hell out of people comming at you. 8k and its a lot brighter, blue'r, and not as blinding .....which is what i was looking for.
^ 5000Kelvins vs 8000Kelvins
5000K is brighter a lot of people mistaken for the higher color temp as a brighter color. But the truth is the lower the temp the brighter it is.... and the last eye strain you get too. Anything closer to yellow has less eye strain and is the brightest you can go.
taken this off a HID website. I asked my friend which is a physics major... it's true ^_^.
If you want to look more like the luxury cars. I recommend 5000K perfectly white. I regret having 8000K right now.

Please note: most customers have a common misconception that the higher the K (Kelvin temperature) the brighter it gets, but in fact, it is the opposite. The K rating is inversely proportional to the light output, therefore the lower the K the brighter the light output. Also Xenon runs cooler and than your traditional halogen, therefore it will not meltyour housing.

i went with 8500 and theyre great
i know thay are not as bright as the 5000k or less but
they are still really bright the color is good and the
biggest improvement besides visibilty is the reflector
things in the road...they are so white now its amazing!
a lot better for night time driving

i put the 6000k in mine. they are the best for the way i want my car to look. i like just a slight amount of blue tint to my headlights. the 5000k are just barely brighter than the 6000's that is why i chose them.
over all it depends on what you want out of your headlights. everything after 6000k is just adding more of a blue color and less light output.

There is a pic here of different temps/colors:

3000K - "Ion" Yellow
4500K - Pure White - 3200 Lumen
5000K - White with a Blue Hue - 3000 Lumen
6000K - White with a Violet Hue - 2800 Lumen
8000K - Blue - 2600 Lumen
~4500k is the brightest.
I have 8000K - it's still brighter than stock and looks great (I like the bluish look)

i was glad i switched to 8k the second time around
little clearer, but still has nice blue/purple tint to it
bright as hell
hey lilflip, did you adjust your headlights up a little bit or are they still the stock setting.
i have the McChulloch 6000k kit but mine headlights seam like they aim more towards the ground. maybe it just because i have my coilovers all the way down.
any body else have this issue.
