Default Waxing

How often do you guys wax your cars? How soon do you wax them? I heard it's not good to wax them before 20k miles because off the whole ToyoGaurd stuff... any info would be appreciated...

Best things to do...

First clay your car, may be like every 6-8 months to remove all the fall out, then apply a carnuba wax about twice a year, and the rest of the year apply just a polish like crystal shine or film cleaner, if you need specific names let me know. But a polish is not a wax, but it sure shines the hell out of a car.

Let me know if you need details, I use to work for a company that preps cars for photoshoots, and commercials, so I know a few things here and there.

Take care

^^ lol well it's more like I polish every 3 months and wax every 6. ICE isn't really a wax; it's a synthetic polish.

I normally use Clay Magic. You can find it at Autozone or at www.clay-magic.com they sell a bunch of kits there.

I normally clay my car twice a year, I live in cali so there's a lot of fall out collected on the paint. I then wax the car with a carnuba after every clay, then just use a polish every month, keeps the paint super shiny. Use good polish though, something like Crystal Shine by Car Brite. And I agree to dry wash your car with a spray wax, but don't be fooled, that spray wax really doesn't do anything for the car, its just a good way of washing your car without water.

You should wax your car till about a year after you bought your car(if you bought it new). The paint is not fully cured untill then and you risk damaging the paint. After the year passed, I wax my car ever few months. It all depends really on what kind of conditions and enviroment your car is in on a day to day basis.

I clayed my car for the first time after a year,
I wax once a every 1-2 weeks with liquid wax.

I dont like seeing the car not look like its freshly waxed.

I used turtle wax ICE but it doesnt really shine the car like a wax job, it just makes it looks like I went over it with a spray detailer. Using ICE on the car (bottle says its a synthetic polish, more like soapy oil) doesnt create the reflections I know the cars oem paint can look like

can someone define polish to me? Isnt it an abrasive so using a polish often starts eating away clearcoat? if i have a wrong understanding please someone explain.

I gave away all of my Meguiar's products. Found something better, longer lasting, glossier, and more of an in depth shine.
