I like the idea, but it would also drastically reduce the safety of these mostly daily driven cars...... would be sweet though

I think a cf top roof, taking all the glass and glass paneling out, or not even cf just regular material would reduce so much weight

Just go on a diet. Much cheaper than buying all CF and depending on how much you loose, you will get about the same results. If you shave 40lbs off your car (which is the approximate weight saving from the CF roof replacement), you reduce the weight of our cars by less than 1% Even going CF everything, I doubt you would see more than a 5% weight reduction. Everyone things CF is so amazing and will make your car as light as a feather and go faster. It won't. It looks pretty and offers very slight weight savings when used in aftermarket applications like ours. Remember, there is still fiberglass underneith the CF unlike in race applications where it is typically pure CF.

+1 to Thansenite.

Real CF parts aren't pretty looking. They don't have the nice weave that the commercial products out have because they are usually painted anyway.

Carbon fiber doors wouldnt do much. If u want to save weight u should take all your paneling and window glass/motor out. reinstall some plastic in there and thatll save u some lbs. A mere door shell doesnt weigh much at all.

Another thing to note about our cars is that what makes our cars heavy is also what makes them so safe.

the panels are pretty weak to begin with. i think it's sfe to say i've damaged every panel... and fender. cept the driver side fron fender and driver side door. i think they are pretty weak,c/f would only be worse i think. if you want them. buy a civic.

I don't think it would be practical.

I still don't understand the obsession with CF. I guess people think its some magic material that looks great?

CF has no place replacing random panels in daily drivers.

well.. someone people compete.... so maybe it's not all daily drivers... i mean if i poured 75k or something into the tc... then it'll be my daily driven track car.... honestly... i really dont care about safety.. and yeah c/f looks nice... but not on everything... i dont know... it's all personal preference.. do you dont have to bust his little nuts...

It's not practical, it would be purely for looks.

But just to get everyone on the same page; it sounds like some people are thinking CF door skins, others are thinking of a full door assembly made entirely of CF.

Skins would be neat if you're into the look. Replacement doors would turn your car into a Jeep.
