weird noise...!!!
wuts up guys....the other day i got in my car and started it up and drove away...later when i got where i wanted tobe and stuff i hear this weird noise..it sounds like a wheel of fortune wheel you know when you spin it and the flag thing flaps against the wheel it not loud but i can hear it...when i put the clutch in it stops and when its sitting or im driving it make sthe noise...so i went to the dealer and the guy said it is my timeing belt.its just breaking in..i have 10,200 miles there is no way in hell my time belt is going to act up you know what i mean...so the dude said that the corollas and camrys do the same thing so i beleived him ...what you guys think...and if any thing happens to my baby all hell will break lose....
the way you describe this it is when the car is running. yes? then i'd say problem
if you got to your place and got out and the car is off and noise, then it's the heat shields around the exhaust. a fast ticking, kinda metal. they get hot and expand then start to cool off. mine does it everytime i park. tick tick tick tick...
but yeh, if it sounds really scary, dealer it and make them tell you for sure. better safe than stranded

its not the heat shield or my spark plugs???...but anyways the dealer said let it go and if something happens then its covered under warenty so ill let it go the only mods i have done are exhaust and dropped for now for performance...and i know its none of that so what ever but thanks for your in puts...
Sounds similar to the way a clutch with a broken finger can sound sometimes since it stops when you depress the clutch. But it would most likely be hard to get into gear then. No matter what, I would have someone else look at it if it sounds serious like you say.
i think i'm having a similar problem. it makes the clicking noise when it's idle. but when i rev it a little.. it goes away. when i drive it.. it goes away.. but as soon as i come to a stop and the engine idles again.. the clicking noise comes back.
^^^ Now that sounds like the PCV valve. Take heart, the clicking means it's working. Go stick your head under the hood of a Cavy-- or any OBD2 OHV car, for that matter. The placement of the PCV, and I reckon the pressure being pushed out of the crankcase-- it sounds like a woodpecker under there.
My wife's Corolla will get a good PCV rhythm going on hot days.
