Default This is why Old people shouldnt drive....lol

These picture are why old people should not be on the road....I hit a 65+ year old head on at a intersection who went through a red light. Aparently the car in front of her was going too slow...probably because the light was changing....sooo.....I smacked right into her passenger side and never saw her because yes of course I was focused on the light....something I wish she would have been....oh well....she was at fault so none of this will cost me a dime...but I love this car like she was my HALLE BERRYYYYYY HALLE BERRY!

lol the moment I felt the impact was the only time where I really wanted to go crazy. I treat this car like its a Bugatti Veyron. So when the impact happened I knew the front end was toast. But when we pulled over to the side of the road, and got out of our cars, I wasnt mad anymore, just greatful that nobody was hurt. I was even more greatful when the cop confirmed to me that it was going to be her fault. I had planned on getting the whole front end repainted when I got the money, because the car has 166000+ miles on it. 80% highway so there was plenty of sandblasting, bug, and stone chip damage. Now my 166000+ mile car is gonna look brand new again.

Glad no one was hurt, you have a pretty good attitude on the whole situation at least, glad its going to work out.

Where i go to school its VERY typical to have people run early redlights, hell even late redlights. You really have no idea how many times i see this where I go, I guess its trained me for the better though.

booo old people....sad part is here in Texas they dont care if old people drive until they hit 80 then they have to go every year to renew their lisence but seriously 80....i say they reduce it to 65!

as for the actual damage to your car doesnt look to bad demand to repaint the whole car! or just pay the difference have fun with it make some wild color lol

This happend to me too last November in the Oc, but it was a mid age paisa. Idiot ran a stop and he even admited to the officer on his report that it was his fault. Then 2 months later he decides to change his story and blame it on me, and now they are saying that i am 80% at fault. How is that possible when he ran a STOP SIGN?!

I agree that old people shouldn't be driving anymore. The other day I was on the highway going 70 with the flow of traffic and there was this car that closed in on me in within seconds and was tailgating me. I switch over to the slow lane and this old lady who could bearly see over the dash with a handicap badge on her plate passes me up. She must have been going 90+ or something. I just stayed back and watched as she cut her way through traffic. I guess when you hit that age, death isn't really something to worry about anymore.

Hey man I have no choice but to have a positive attitude about what happened...I mean as much as I love this car and baby it, and hate to see it sitting in my driveway for however long its gonna take to get it fixed, I know in the end that its gonna be looking better than it was before the accident. The whole front of that car was sandblasted and had lots of bug/stonechip damage from all those highway miles I put on it. So now its really gonna look brand new. And I'll fight tooth and nail if they try to total it out or say it was my fault, because yea its got more miles than the world rolled out 50 times, but I still drove like the day I bought it and that was from how I maintained it. So no way am I gonna let some adjuster make all that time and effort be in vain....I WILL get my ish fixed and IT WILL look better than it did in the accident. PERIOD.

So....I finally received a call from the body shop today. The damage was around $4500+. The car is not going to be totaled out, and so worst case senario is that the other drivers insurance company wont claim liability and ill have to pay $300. Thats cool with me....But the damage was obviously from the pictures, hood, bumper, grille, both fenders, and both headlights, also the radiator is being replaced, def a nice thing to get after that one has been on the car for over 166000 miles, hood hinges, and a condensor....I had a pretty good attitude when this happened and it payed off because my car will be returned to me in better shape than it was in before the accident....I post pics up when I get the car back

^ Glad you're ok and you're keeping a cool head about it. Thats BS if they pin you with partial responsibility. I had that happen after a pretty devastating motorcycle accident. They said the 68yr old lady making the U-turn from a parking spot was 100% at fault when she sued me for "whiplash". Then when I made my under-insured claim suddenly I was partially at fault. $31k in surgery and 5 years worth of legal fees later I won the suit.

Its funny that you guys think "old people" shouldn't be driving past a certain age when statistics show people under 25 are the highest risk.
(Factually the majority of drunk driving accidents are drivers 21-24 years old and the majority of reckless driving accidents are 21 and younger.)

I do agree that as people age the frequency of testing should increase but come on, there are some pretty careless drivers out there regardless of age.

I'd be willing to bet the majority of people on this forum don't even know how to use proper hand signals or steer out of a skid.

...wtf, 65?! lmao

How are they not totaling the car? Market value is only $4,500 for an 06 with that much mileage.

no joke i am lobbying my state to pass a law that at age 65 and older you are required to take a driving test...not written test...every year

young drivers get older and better. old drivers get older and worse. i'm sorry, but if you're legally blind, partially deaf, have parkinsons disease, etc, you shouldn't be driving. No I'm not exaggerating. the average customer at my work (a pharmacy) is 75 years old. and 90% of them drive. it's not uncommon to see people at 85 and still drive. no, i'm not guessing their age. i have to ask everyone their DOB when they drop off a prescription. but then again, thats florida for you.
