Default window tint

Alright guys, i have a question, because honestly i dont know the answer to it. I paid the local shop a good amount of money today to tint my windows, and when i picked my vehicle up i was less than pleased. From the outside it looks good, other than the windshield strip which was cut too short so light is coming through it... Now.. What i noticed was from the inside the tint looks like ___. Theres no dust in it, but the edges are cut wavey, jaggedy, un even, crooked etc. You know how our back windows have the black around it? Well it looks like all they did was make sure the tint was over it far enough to cover the transparent part of the glass, and they didnt give a ____ about how the cuts looked... they didnt tuck the tint, they just cut it all ____ty and slapped it on. Is this how it should be done? Or should the tint be tucked and decent looking? Also. Around the rear view mirror. Whats the proper way to do this? What this shop did was cut the tint down the middle, and piece it around the rear view and i am not happy at all with it. The cut around the rear view bracket looks terrible. Dot matrix is showing, light is coming through, and keep in mind this shop has the best rep in town. I paid them alot of money in my opinion. 45 for that ____ty windshield strip that they will be redoing until im satisfied. Ill have some pictures up tomorrow. OH, and all this was just things i noticed at 9:00 pm during the night time. No sunshine on it yet.

Have they ever tinted a tC before? I would have started with that question. It sounds like they did a really crappy job.

I didn't think it was possible to tint over the dot matrix? My shop told me you could only use vinyl. Complain till they fix it, it sounds like crap. How did they do the fronts? did they roll the window down and take part the quarter panels of the door?

theyve been around for a while, suprisingly. Im sure they have. Im debating on whether or not i want to go demanding for a refund. I had them do one of my trucks too, and it turned out even worse, but they told me since it was such an old vechile that there was alot of dust in it which apparently was a joke... Anyone know any good tint shops around kentucky?

if they've been around for so long i'm amazed they still don't have a computerized cutter that cuts the exact dimensions of the windows. the guys that did my windows actually took the time to wipe up the area that they were tinting before actually placing on the tint. the only thing they screwed up was my back bumper. good job on the tint, but not on taking care of the car.

Yea that sucks, really no reason it should have jagged edges because they cut it on the outside of the car. I would take it back especially if they did the front bad.

alright, well my camera doesnt want to take pictures in the dark apparently, but tomorrow i will have some pictures up for you all. Yeah, i dont understand how you can have such crappy cuts if you do it correctly. For anyone who wants to know the name of the shop, its hollywood window tint located in owensboro kentucky. pure shi T is all ive gotten from them. My last vehicle they didnt even clean up their mess, strips of tint were laying around everywhere along with a few french fries on the floorboard. If they had done that with this car i would have gotten a full refund, only 800 miles on it so it shouldnt be treated like a pile of junk.

The shop I took mine did a good job, one of my rear windows has some dust in it but nothing really noticeable. They also made a mess on the outside of the car, they had soapy water all over my car, but I didn't care because I wouldnt want them to scratch the paint wiping it off

I will try tomorrow, I was going to tell you that is was probably normal but I went out and looked at mine and they were pretty straight. They are not perfectly straight but defiantly not jagged

Okay.... here's my 2 cents on the topic.... as for the jagged edges and such that is pretty poor work IMO.... but as for the "tucking" comment earlier... from what I've been told, the reason that good tint shops will only go a little bit into the "black/dot" area is because the tint will not stick to that black metallic surface. But decent shops will make that a nice straight cut...not all sloppy like what happened to yours. If it were me, I would take it back to the shop....and in a calm professional manner point out what part of the work you are not pleased with and request that they fix it. Don't go in their with the attitude of pointing and say look what the installer F'ed up. You'll get a lot further in getting them to fix the poor work if you don't go in all ____ed off.

well, went to the tinter, told him there were scratches and he instantly said it was there prior to his install. I said no. so i told him to take the tint off then and there which he did, and sure enough it waso n the glass. He started cursing. blah blah and i told him i want all the tint off and i want a refund. In the meantime, my sister called the dealership and they said they only clean the class with a paper towel and windex, adn they only clean the outside (car was brand new)...and the scratches were on the inside and were deep. So now the dealer is involved.. They said the head manager will givem e a call monday. I need a good tinter around western ky!! within 100 miles. anyone know of one?
