I am getting my windows tinted this Friday and I need some help deciding how dark to get them. I can get 20%(which is illegal in GA) or 35%. Can some folks with windows tinted like these post pics so I can see if getting them illegal would be worth the risk?

 

No matter what is said, the ultimate desicion is up to you. 20% is nice and at angles could look as dark at 5%... which, IMO looks the best.

35% is nice too... it helps with the sun and it looks better than clear. And it's legal so you don't have to worry about it when you get pulled over. However, many cops (I would almost say most, but not all) would really have to be looking to see the difference between 20% and 35%. If you got a ticket for having 20%, it was either the end of the month, a really bad day for the cop, or you deserved it for being a jerk.
Then again, you could get a ticket for just about anything... so I would ask... why do you want tint in the first place?

If you want it for primarily looks and show, go 20. If you want it primarily for it's convience and the fact that it simply adds a little sumpin to the car, go 35.

How long does it usually take to get your windows tinted?

 

FYI A Police office is very likely to pull you over at day time for your tints not at night. I have 15% front and back windows and 35% on windshield will post pics later on

 

about an hour or 2 tops. darker tints increase the possibility of you getting pulled over by your local po po. i think this is second to having a load exhaust.

I went with it only because it's legal. I am not made of money... so I didn't want to end up getting busted and have to remove it and then get it re-done at a legal %. 35% isn't as dark as 20% obviously, but it still adds a LOT to the appearance of the car.

I was tinted about a month ago and I went 15% (illegal in PA) and cops haven't looked twice at it. It's not the most egregious thing you can do in a car. It will only be an issue if you are speeding or driving recklessly or doing anything else behind the wheel of the car that brings undo attention to yourself. Good practice is rolling down your windows when you're rolling past patrol cars, then put them back up once you pass them. Here are some pics, before/after of 15% Llumar ATR Charcoal tint. It's the cleanest looking, most durable tint you can find. Shades Of Gray Tinting in Philadelphia did my tint (all side windows and rear) in 30min.
