Default Window tint and the heat...anyone know?

Gosh..I have 35% in the front and 15% in the back and you know...besides looks, I got the tint to keep the heat away so my car would be somewhat cool, especially since today in socal it was about 90 degrees.. for some reason, my window tint TRAPS the heat in...wtf? does anybody have any clue why? my girlfriend has a SUV with absolutely no window tint and her car is much more cooler than mine while it sits in the sun..

fyi - I was parked in a parking lot with a window shade in the front and her car was parked without any of that and still was much cooler.

explain!

thanks

Do you open the sunroof a smidge when parked? Here in Cen. Cal., it's hot in the summer (try 110 degrees) and my tC stays relatively cool with the sunroof open a tad. Also, what color car does your gf have? Lighter colored cars tend to stay cooler than darker colored cars. Your BSP tC absorbs the heat thus making your car more hot.

its not that i expect window tint to make my car cool but more of the reason that it should be cooler compared to having no window tint at all...next time on a hot day I will try and leave my sunroof open and see if that helps...but still, ever since i got the tint, it seems like my car is an oven

the interior is black, seats are gray...and good point, I never really took into account that the amount of space from the SUV to the tc...she has a Rav4, still a relatively small SUV but i suppose more space than the tc

darker colors will absorb the heat more than lighter colors. Thats why people wear bright color clothes in the summer. and u see most of the sun shades are in bright colors.

Get Weathertech window deflectors and crack the driver and passenger side windows to allow air to escape. I'd recommend opening your sunroof a little if it weren't for rain storms but if you have deflectors, all you gotta do is crack the window and forget about it! Good luck!
