Default WINDSHIELD!!!

Hi guys,

Just a post to vent a bit... I went with my father over to his friends house and there were some little kids there and apparently one of them thought it would be a good idea to throw a rock at my windshield! Needless to say, it cracked. I guess it's good that I have 100% glass coverage with no deductable and I guess this would be a great time to have the tint eyebrow to match the 15% that I have all around put on since it'll be at the glass shop anyway. Anyone had a windshield replaced in their tC? I hope the aftermarket windshields are a 100% match of the OEM factory ones...

Sorry for the "venting my frustration" post.

I actually heard the aftermarket glass fitment sucks, especially the door windows. Like, so bad they didn't fit and needed OEM replacements in some cases.

No experience myself though. Good luck and post how the fitment is.

Also I had my eyebrow done to match the windows... looks so much better.

I will be seriously ____ed if the windshield doesn't fit properly. Actually, I will just have the kids mother buy me an OEM windshield considering she was outside and around the kids when they were throwing the rocks. Talk about an irresponsible parent....

How much does that glass coverage cost you?
What insurance is that through?
Just curious...

I have state farm insurance. The glass coverage is jsut a couple bucks a month extra. Obviously well worth it haha.

Yeah for sure...at least you had it covered.
I have a couple VERY small chips in my windshield from driving on the interstate. They are barely even noticeable and aren't spreading... but they ____ me the hell off.

I had my front windshield replaced a few weeks ago cost me 50 bucks because it was my deductable from geico.. And when they replaced it, it was 100% perfect fitment and looks 100% oem also.. No difference in style at all. I was very satisfied with the people who did my windshield replacement. Don't know what the company was called because geico was the one who set my appointment up and everything.

Yeah I would've kicked the kids in the neck too. Be careful with after market glass and who installs it. They came out with a law not too long ago that OEM glass windshields has to be made and installed a certain way so if you get in an accident the windshield blows outwards instead of inwards where it can harm the people inside. All the glass installers were so posed to go to a special class on it i think.

I'll be astonished if your insurance carrier mandates OEM glass rather than "certified OEM replacement"... seeing as an OEM windshield runs about $1100 installed, and an aftermarket goes about $260. I'm on my 2nd aftermarket (a road gator took out my OEM, and a fist sized rock took out my first aftermarket glass.) There's some distortion in the glass at the extreme outside edges, but the glass and fitment are otherwise OEM-quality.

That's a shame! Plus today after a night of cooling off and heating back up the small crack is now across the entire windshield!
