Default Windshield shade band

So - Scion TC with a shade band on the windshield. Good, or bad idea?

My windshield has been cracked by a rock for the second time in 6 months. The company I go to for new windshields has offered me a windshield with a shade band (strip of tint at the top of the windshield).

I care what people think of my tC, and I generally like soaking in the admiration provided. So I'd like to get opinions on whether or not this would be a positive addition to my tC.

Do you mean an actual strip of tint on the windshield? If so, just be careful how low you make it. I just got pulled over last Friday for my brow. The cop said he wasn't able to see my rear view mirror (it was night) and gave me a $130 ticket... I think the cop was just looking for a reason to pull me over but you still have to be careful how low you make the brow.

Looks like in WA you can tint the top 6" of the windshield:

i have a 6" tint banner (legal in illinois) make the car flow better from a front view, my friend had his tc windshield replaced with the sun blocker tint at the top, looked kinda purple to me but it was a BCP so it looked ok on that color tc, i would just go get the banner in limo tint, plus u can mount a radar right below it so the suction cup/wiring cant be seen from the outside

True, but it depends on what radar you have. GPS linked radars like my Escort 9500i need a clear unobstructed view if the sky in order to work properly.

As far as the tint goes, I would definitely do it in either 2.5% or 5%. I looks sweet!

cop was bull$h!tting you, they don't have to know where your rear view mirror is, hell, if you wanted to rip your rear view mirror off and toss it, it doesn't matter. there is probably a law about how much of the roof can be tinted, especially since older cars used to have that green tint line on their windsheilds from the factory

as for my opinion on window band tints...they're okay when they are purely functional, in this case keeping the sun out of your eyes. but they're are super lame when it is something just pompous and redundant when it says "SCION" or "TOYOTA" or "IMPORT" "JDM YO" or some ____ nick name like "SUPAWHITIE!" because then it just becomes a substitute for lack of genitals.
