Default Windshield Wiper Recommendations

Not that its all that necessary or important to get a rave review on a particular brand of windshield wipers, but I figure if the recommendation is there, why not use it?

So, does anybody have any recommendations for replacement windshield wiper blades? I believe the drivers side is size 26 and the pass size is 16, but there are lots of brands out there, which is best from experience?

If anybody knows the relevance to putting a spoiler on a windshield wiper when passing through this thread, let me know!!

Bosch ICON's are very nice. Will cost you some but they're worth it.

They are still stock on my xB but when i had my eclipse i used the Rain-X brand. I never had a problem with them.

i think that "spoiler" is used to push the wind over the wiper to help the wiper have good contact with the windshield at higher speeds

Yea, I think you're right...it helps hold down the wiper - it doesn't really seem all that necessary to me.

Does anybody else have a recommendation for what is a good windshield wiper?

I would have to say that the Valeo's and the PIAA's are pretty good if they cost that much, but who knows...any recommendations?

The difference isn't drastic unless you pick up a really crappy pair of wipers. Until you have, you have no idea how bad they can actually be. I was once on a road trip in my moms car and it started to rain heavily. I put on the wipers and it was actually worse than having them off. I drove very slowly for a while until I got to a gas station off the highway and replaced them with cheap little POS. Even those were better than what she had on there. I asked her later when she replaced them, she said "just recently"!

The stock wipers on the tC aren't bad - I just want to hear if anybody has some recommendation as to something that they KNOW is good...Thanks!!!

use rain-x aswell... most of the time in the rain i dont need to use my wipers because i use rain-x, the water slides right off

I suppose that if you're happy with OEM performance you could also just get the OEM replacement parts?

I see these "Rain-X" wipers in the store... anyone know what that's all about?

Yea, the OEM parts are bad, but they aren't particularly good for wintery weather. It may be a jump in price, but I have heard good things about the valeo ultimate style of windshield wipers




These are supposed to be great in wintery weather b/c no snow/ice can get in, and we're midway through october....

no thats just the auto glass cleaner what you want is the glass treatment. you can also get it in a spray bottle. i use the spray bottle its easier to get a even application

no no, not the glass treatment, I have a bottle of that stuff. I'm talking about actual wipers, as in, it has the brand name of "rain-x" on them... I believe they are co-branded, though. They're on the same rack with the Boschs and generic ones and such.

Awesome, i am going to pick up one of those bottles tomorrow - thanks for the tip...I just hope it works well in sync with the wipers...great reviews though!

yea i know that... but what i am saying is that you should also use "rain-x treatment aswell" for wipers i use Bosch they work great... i had a set of rain-x wipers and i didnt like them very much

BTW, if you do use wipers in conjunction with rain-x, you run the risk of them streaking or otherwise messing up the rain-x. A few times is usually not a problem, but if you apply it correctly, you should be able to avoid using your wipers as the rain-x will do most of the work.

Some people swear by Aquapel, which is supposed to be better than Rain-X, but it isn't available (AFAIK) in any local stores. You have to order it online and its also more expensive than Rain-X, although it does last longer.

I personally think the OEM wipers work perfectly fine, it's starting to leave some streaks, but I think that might be due to the spray on wax I used on the windshield...

A lot of manuf. are switching to the Velo blades as OEM equipment. I believe most Hondas and higher end lux cars ship with them.
