These suckers have been torturing me ever since my accident. Does anybody know WTF these tab things are underneath my lip, and how I can remove them? There are two wide tabs, and two smaller tabs closer towards the front. If you know their purpose (aside from scraping on every surface I drive on) that'd be cool to know too.

i looked under my car...and the only thing that i can think of are the things that bolt onto the splash guard. but i doubt it...you should really take it to the body shop and ask them what the hell they did...

also..i dont have a front lip...so i wouldnt know if they just forgot to tuck those things in..

 

Catfish!

 

Those are the tabs that you use to screw in to the skid plate on the bottom. Those are supposed to hold it up.

 

So is this an issue of removing them...do they need to be replaced? They don't look like they're doing their job at all. Plus they're ugly (duh).

I liked the comment about "catfish" though. But catfish are ugly too.

 

there is no removing them , they were cut off from your bumper to put in the front ground effects lip, your only alternatives now is to put a new lip back on or just get a new bumper.

You can just cut them off if you dont plan on putting a skid plate back on. My skid plate ripped off going through a puddle and those tabs are what was left. I just cut them off because I dont plan on getting another skid plate.

 

i think their cute u should keep the little things. ROFL! u can drill a hole in them and dangle little self made bells so people can hear you coming. or draw small smily faces on them and brighten up the days of others who are laying down. ok im not being helpfull sorry.

 

Just put another TRD front lip on. That will 'get rid' of both the notches in your front bumper, and the catfish effect.

Only the TRD front kit will cover both those holes and the metal tabs.

 

i've actually since patched the holes! i sort of like the no lip look (for now). i have no idea what a skid plate is for, nor do i plan on google-ing it before i submit this, but i bet it's a plate designed to interfere with skidding!(?). unless it's incredibly crucial, i don't plan on getting another skid plate. so i guess the "cute" bell holders are going to be meeting mr . sharp edge soon. bear, if you'd like i'll mail them to you, complete with smiley faces AND bells.

did u used to have a lip kit? whered they all of a sudden come from?

 

i was hit/rubbed up against in a parking lot (or so i think, i wasn't in the car at the time) and the loser totally ripped off half of the lip kit, so i took off the other side. it was a sad day. no note or anything. it was probably a mad mom in a minivan.
