Default 05 tC Exhaust trouble, HELP!!

Here are my 05 manual trans tC specs;

- K&N 69 series Typhoon air intake (looking to trade for a Injen CAI)
- DC Sports header 4-2-1 (should've went with a 4-1 header but oh well..)
- Spec D full exhaust system
- stock s pipe

I got the headers and the exhaust pipes installed a couple of days ago, I noticed a few things after the installation

- there is rattling on idle with the new exhaust (noise can be heard under the arm rest inside the car)
- there seems to be air leak (can be heard when standing on both sides of the car)
- small but noticeable vibrations inside the car when driving on the freeway with the new exhaust, is it because of all the noise its making?
- the exhaust does not sound that deep but more raspy i would say.
- removing the silencer gave it a deeper tone on idle but is way louder when raising the rpm
- noise inside the cabin is noticeably louder, not deeper but raspier which is annoying

Im taking the car in so that mechanic can work on the leaks assuming to be in the mid pipe and the rattling, I dont think i have any problems with the back can so I hope the leak would solve the problems above.

as for the raspy sound, would a muffler shop be able to work on the exhaust to give it a deeper tone? is this something they can do?

My target it to get my exhaust to sound close to the video below (which sounds sick imo)

please share your feedback and knowledge fellas.

if you change the header your going to get rasp.
the guy in the video pretty much only has a custom axle back and CAI from the looks of it.

I thought the header is not supposed to change the tone, I've seen lots of videos with headers and custom exhausts that sounded way better than what I have.. would pipe fitment be a factor here?

unless you add resonators, a header will give you rasp, thats just how it is and what people have done.
wrong/ill-fitting pipes probably don't help and would give you the other issues you have too, leaks and rattles

so I just got it back from the mechanic

- the rasp has gone down a bit after removing the silencer but can still be heard when I push he rpm

- the rattling is gone

- the air leak is gone

he cut off and bent some of the pipes because the fitment was off.

I think there is a resonator already on this exhaust (pic below)

would a muffler shop be able to play with the exhaust to give me the tone is looking for?

yes they probably would gladly add a different or second resonator as long as you payed them for it.
you may never get rid of all of the rasp, unless you got rid of the header.

Alright brotha, i've been all over the internet looking into this, looks like i will need a second resonator and below are top of the list options;

Option A: vibrant ultra quiet resonator (what size?)

Options B: AR25 resonator (what size?)

Option C: Cherry bomb glasspack? not sure how this works

if you have better resonators in mind please let me know, I will have to take it to the shop so they can weld it on the mid-pipe, is this something i should be worried about down the road since its stainless steel im messing with here?

sorry, I don't have any recommendations for you, the shop you take it to should have what you need and figure out what is or isn't possible with your setup.

Header = rasp. They reduced the raspyness by REMOVING the silencer? That doesn't make sense, unless the silencer was loose and rattling. Only other way to reduce the header raspyness is to change the header or add/increase the resonator. Otherwise, go back to the stock manifold or a Dezod Green if you need it for emissions.

removing the silencer gave it a deeper tone on idle, the rasp was still there when i push the rpm.

The muffler shop installed a 24" resonator to take place of the one that came on the spec d, the sound is alright i guess but its not the tone im after but whatever as long as the rasp is gone im fine with it, i'll keep the spec d on and see how it goes, thanks for all the help!

I hated how my exhaust started sounding when I installed my header. So I went back to the stock manifold. But then I missed the power. So, having already added a cat in the mid pipe and moved the 2nd o2 sensor back behind it in order to eliminate the CEL, I figured what the heck, I don't need the first cat anymore anyway, so I gutted it. To my surprise, it added back about 60=70% of the power I had with the header. I can live with that, cuz now I have the power, and the better sound.
