Default 07+ NST Pulley Belt Squealing Problem.....

I have the nst pulley kit installed and its been a year since i've installed them. The other day i go and start my car and i hear a really loud squealing sound coming from the pulleys. I'm not sure why its doing this now but i tried taking off the belt, which is still in really good condition, and reinstalling it and still nothings changed. I sprayed it with wd40 and even white lithium grease and it fixes the problem for a few minutes but then it comes back.

Could the belt be on wrong? For example the alt pulley, does the belt have to be more to the right or to the left. Same thing for the pulley behind the crank. Right now i currently have then all to the right. I hope you guys understand what I'm talking about lol.

Anybody that has an 07+ with these pulleys please feel free to chime in.

It could be anyone of the bearings, it would be hard to tell cuz it's a serpentine belt so it's harder to single one out. Try going through each one

I installed the pulleys an a Goodyear Gatorback belt about 2 weeks ago and it squealed for a short time after the installation but it doesn't anymore. I'm not sure what to tell you besides try another belt. I just don't think the bearings are bad. I don't know if you have a Gates belt, Goodyear, Napa/Advance/Pep Boys/Autozone style but all belts are not created equal. I compared the Napa to Advanced to the Goodyear and the Napa and Advanced were complete garbage compared to the Goodyear.

I have a gates belt which i was recommended to buy when i purchased the pulleys.

It squealed a little bit after installation but went away as well but just recently its started squealing like all hell broke loose. I've had it on for about a year now.

Hey ecko4, when you installed the belt on the alternator pulley, ac pulley and the pulley behind the crank (not sure what that ones for), notice how there's an extra groove thats not being used. Did you have the belt more towards the right side of the pulleys or the left side closes to the edge?

I hope that somehow made sense. I wish i had pics but i'm stuck at work.

I want to say more to the right. I would take pics for you but the car is at the shop being tuned and getting new IC piping. I know it isn't close to the edge. With the Gatorback belt it would barely even go on, it was such a pain. I had to use a screwdriver to get the belt onto the bottom of the crank pulley. I know that's not the recommended way but it worked. I still remember the belt I used a 6 rib 74.5in belt...GTR-4060745. I'm not sure bro, since you've had yours for a year and used a quality belt, if the belt isn't the issue, which happens to be the cheapest fix, and I don't see the pulleys themselves going bad, i'm not sure. I would say if you had the original pulleys try those back out with the original sized belt and see if they still squeak, that would narrow it down somewhat but that's a lot of work.

Where can i get that belt? The gates belt for the 07+ tc is K060739. Is the gator belt the same? 74.5 seems a little large.

I just purchased a bruno belt from nst and i received it a couple days ago.

When i get out i'm going to play around with the gates belt to ensure that its on there right. Then if it still squeals i'm going to try the bruno belt that nst sent me.

This sound is so annoying!!!! lol

I got my belt from Summit Racing.

Too big no way, I read on the forum for hours before I read that was the exact belt that others were using an was a perfect fit. I still think it was a little snug but it worked like a charm.

So then the gates belt that i have on now and the one that nst sent me is wrong you think? Both are K060739. One is a gates belt and the other is a Bruno belt.

when i installed the gates belt it went on pretty well and was really snug. The belt just barely makes it over the pulley when i pull the tensioner. I route the belt fully around all pulley except the alternator then i pop that on on last. Thats how i install it. I tried a gates K060745 belt when i first got the pulleys and it wasn't snug at all and it felt kind of loose. Everytime i went to make a left or right turn the belt would squeal. When i changed to the K060739 everything was fine and ran perfect up until this point.

I'm so confused. I swear this car is retarded. I have one of the first 07s that where produced and i feel like this whole car is out of whack. I've had nothing but weird issues with this car ever since i got it.

I don't think they're wrong. K060739 is listed on the Gates website as 74.5" so I would think they're the same size or at least close to. Like I state the Goodyear belt I have was no picnic getting on, it took 3 people to get it on and it fits very snug. I cannot move it at all with my hand.

Here is the thread that I went by when it came to getting the right belt.
