Fuel cut....

Basically the engine cuts fuel to stop it from climbing any higher.

Buy an Engine mangement system, you can change your rev limit then.

i wouldn't bother doing any ems work unless your either going turbo. or doing internal engine mods to "really" be able to raise your redline, like replacing your crank, lifter springs, and connecting rods to handle all of that extra rpms.

otherwise your just asking to brick your motor.

I agree with what he says. Get some work done before you go to EMS.

But the fuel cut is NOT only for the 07....as I have an 06 and it affects it as well.

Simple solution, dont bounce it off the limiter

All tC's have a fuel cut... but the 07's seem to have a unique cut that causes about a second to a second and a half full bog.. where as the 05-06 / 08+ have an almost honda/nissan like rapid redline slap... the 07 does bog if you hit the limiter...

That can be fixed through an EMS setup but. unless you are planning on doing some serious work.. dont wast your money.. just make it a point to shift at 6k or 6200 if you are racing.

I have a cold air headers and exhaust...looking to get pulleys, throttle body spacers, and maybe some internal work done after...should I get an EMS or not ??

WOuld getting an 08+ ecu make a difference in the fuel cut ??

If you are going for a better amount of control on your engine then yes, but just getting an EMS for what you have right now would be a waste imho.

Get a clear goal on what you want from the car. Do you want it to be a Daily Driver or just a weekend warrior. What do you want as HP goals.

Dont worry about the Fuel Cut, just dont try and bounce it off the limiter often. Getting an 08+ ECU will not change the fuel cut...all tCs have it. The only difference might be in what Shift said about full bog length.

You can buy an EMS if you want, but I suggest against it.

Going to an 08 ecu will alter the fuel cut type.. same rpm and speed though..

Like my man above said.. you need to take a deep breath and REALLY decide what you are going to do.. and how you are going to do it... all at once.. in stages... etc..

Bolt ons with a tune isnt a waste of time.. or money.. so long as you understand exactly what you are headed for .. and its ok with you... if you go to an EMS you can alter the fuel cut style... as well as alter the redline and top speed... but before you drop that coin.. you need to look at the cost of EMS .. the cost of a good tune... and then the cost of having it RE-tuned down the road when you add more parts...

FYI Skip the throttle Body Spacer unless you are looking to run Nitros.. the price to gain is silly... the most anyone has ever reported is a 1-2whp gain.. and that can be attributed {if skeptical} to change in engine temp.. outside conditions.. etc etc.

no problem for the help.

Shift is correct it is not a TOTAL waste for you to get an EMS, but if you are just getting it for rev limiter changes it really would be a waste of cash.

yeah i would i agree too i went with all the bolt ons but chacnged my apporach i know what your talking about the rev limit
but once you either decide to build the motr or go boost then get the ems running i was thinking of doing the same thign until i decided to go with a different approach

Throttle body spacers do jack isht on fuel injected cars.

Stop being a ricer and bouncing off the rev. limiter.

why the hell wuold you want to do that anyway? not like the engine is going to make much more power with those extra rpms.. actually you'd already be past the power band and would be losing power.
