Default 07 Scion tC Code: 1241

07 Scion tC, 222,606 miles. It starts but won’t stay running lights are dim and all lights on dash come on and off as they please.

Code 1241. I tested the battery and alternator both good. Any input is great before I go buy a new ECU. Thank you.

No Input with Incomplete Information.

Do you have a Code B1241 or a Code C1241?

Yes, Code C1241. Also have gotten Code P0340 and C0278. I got a new relay and tried that in different spots but same problems occur.

thank you. I have read all this and tried trouble shooting the best I can. But nothing has changed.Only 1 code comes up at a time, and not alway the same 1. Everything I have read says it’s almost never the ECU but that what it feels like to me.

With all due respect, dim lights and dash lights spazzing sounds like a bad alternator. Have you considered a second opinion?

I will get a second opinion today. Does the alternator explain the codes? And why the car will stay running till brakes are pressed or headlights turned on?

The alternator doesn't necessarily explain the codes. That said, every electrical anomaly you're experiencing requires specific voltage(s). If your alternator isn't charging your battery properly, one or more electrical systems could be receiving incorrect voltages. Once you have a good battery and alternator, some of the fault codes may go away.

Sounds like your car is running on the battery only. Power brakes and headlights suck additional amps and cause your car to stall.
