Default 2007 Scion tC Clutch Replacement Help

Hey guys, I've got a guys Scion tC in the garage. We got a clutch kit without the flywheel from O'Reillys, and I think the flywheel is an F1. We initially put in the pilot bearing,
then found out that caused some problems and researched it to find out it doesn't even use one. I've had the car apart 2 times now and am tired of looking at it.

We took the pilot bearing out, reinstalled the clutch/pressure plate and now we're trying to fit the transmission on the motor.

We have the half shaft lined up and started into the transaxle, but there's about a 1 inch gap between the tranny/engine. The transmission will tilt right, but not left.
Wiggling and shaking it hasn't held true and we have tried spinning the crank to line the splines with no luck...

What could be the issue here?

Hmm. I mean, this isn't the easiest thing to do. Takes a lot of time, patience, and luck. It sounds like you are getting hung up somewhere? Are you getting hung up anywhere? You're an inch away, but what hanging up to keep you from continuing on? And why can't you get it tilt? Angle can be everything. Do you have this thing on a little jack to help you out too? Just keep messing with it and trying. If all else fails, pull the motor

We've got a floor jack under the transmission. It looks square and the dowel's are lined up. I don't want to pull the transmission onto the motor by turning bolts because that'll cause another bind. We're gonna take a break and hold our mouth right. We've been up about 36 hours pulling the car apart, putting it together, and pulling it all back out again. A break is definitely needed!

Sounds like my weekend a few weeks ago lmao. We ended up lining up the dowels and turned bolts to mate up. After a few bolts were partially in, it made it easy to slide together.

See, we pulled it together when the pilot bearing was in, and I'm guessing that's why it was in a bind. I just don't want that to happen again if we pull it together with some bolts.

Right right, but as you mentioned, that was your problem in the first place. Yeah, if your lining up, then do as burgandy mentioned.

Do yall think it was most definitely the pilot bearing causing the bind? I couldn't turn the crank pulley with a breaker bar to save my life but once we removed the transmission it spins freely.

I did. I'm just making sure that why it was in a bind and not something else

Alright, thanks man! Any other tips for getting this thing seated without pulling the transmission in with the bolts??

Umm... not really. If you can get it close enough to get one or two lined up, start those ones, and you should be able to jimmy the rest after getting those started. And no problem my man.

Aw man, I'm sorry, I can't quite tell. That looks like any random arm from the undercarriage. Looks like it should have a counter part to it that would be for the opposing side? You don't see another one that looks like it? I wouldnt' think it would be too hard to find where that larger hole on the arm would need to go, no?

Under the car on the cross member that is front to back. There should be two holes under where the front motor mount should be. It actually blocks you from getting at the front motor mount bolts.

Got it! Thanks man. Im gonna pull the trans off the jack one more time and snap a picture of the throwout bearing to make sure it's installed correctly. The clips weren't the same as the OEM one.

What could be wrong about it? I mean, the clips look good, the fork looks good, the bearing looks like its sitting on there good...
