Default 2008 TC snapped TRANSAXLE CASE

I have been driving my car for about 8 months and one of my friends tested my car, because I heard something rattle a little bit while it was idling. Found out that my front motor mount snapped my transaxle casing. I really wish I had my Digital Camera so I could show you guys. Anyways, I was going to ask, if Aluminum welding it would do just fine?... A mechanic was telling me that it is going to cost ALOT of money(didnt give me an estimate). Anyone got any ideas? and btw, It has 23k miles on it all hwy and does not have warranty anymore.

the problem isn't the motor mounts hun, its the transaxle casing itself. ill be able to send a pic on here in a few days, and for way it is not warranteed anymore is because my hubby bought it for me and its not in my name. Ya, we dont get along anymore. I hope you get what I mean.

x2 as long as the car it self is under warranty they HAVE to fix it. unless you blow a motor or some other failure related to racing a heavy mods.

yeah, the car is under warranty, period, doesn't matter who's name it is under, a warranty is a guarantee against manufacturer defect. you could let a complete stranger take the car in and so long as the mileage and VIN are clear, they will perform a warrantied repair.

i'm a toyota tech and i deal with warr. work all day and i know for a fact that you can take it in for work. since when do dealers card people? haha. find a different dealer, like others have already said, if its under 3/36, its covered. GL.

It's difficult to say without knowing the extent of the crack(s) and where they're located. A professional can do welds so good that the surrounding material will fail before the weld does, so it might be worth a shot if it doesn't cost too much and you realize it may be a temporary fix, depending on the extent of the damage.

I dont understand why you can get it warrantied unless you have either a) mods creating way more power than stock (turbo) or solid motor mounts. If for some reason yuo cant tho - yes you can weld cast aluminum - i just wouldnt recommend it for an amateur welder - i prob wouldnt tackle it myself Youd need to use a tig and id recommend a 4043 filler rod - youll want to grind the matin surfaces to an angle to create maximum penetration also making sure the surface is perfectly clean is a MUST. If you would rather replace you can pick up either a 5 spd or auto tranny from the yard for around $250 ish if you know where to look

no...a salvaged car is a car that has been damaged so severely, it has been written off as a total loss. the car has suffered extensive damage. a warranty is a gaurentee against manufacturer defect. since the car would of been repaired and refurbished by someone other than toyota, it therefore has no warranty anymore.

im well aware of what a salvaged car is my supra is a salvaged....anywho it can still be warranteed her frame could have been bent and repaired ...that has nothing to do with why the transaxel is broken....

when you get your car repaired after an accident u dont always choose toyota/scion to repair...and u still have warranty
