2009 Scion TC.. What to upgrade??
So I just got a 2009 TC with 32k Miles on it. Runs great, love it so far. Its an automatic. With that said I wanna put a CIA in it. But from what I hear the CAI wont really do all that much without an exhaust combo(Not sure if true). But due to it being Auto I was told that getting an exhaust would make it sound like crap and would be dumb. So Im kinda confused to what I should do to it.
If i can get to around 200HP Id be happy for now, until I can afford a turbo a few years down the road.
Suggestions?

Well My main concern is(and ive searched but couldnt find the answer) the exhaust. Some people have told me getting TRD exhaust on an automatic is silly and will make it sound terrrible. Want to know if that true or not.
It'll sound like any other automatic car with an aftermarket exhaust. Everyone will know it's an automatic by the way it shifts. The transmission has no effect on the actual sound of the exhaust. So at idle and cruising it would be the same as if the car was manual.
OK thx. Im just getting into cars and as you can prob tell a car newb atm. Just trying to get a plan for when summer comes. Go less expensive and get CAI/Exhaust/Headers and such... or just turbo.
If you are new to modified cars, and modifying cars, I'd stay away from a turbo build for a while. There is a lot of extra maintenance that goes with boost. Oil changes, spark plugs, tunes, plus repairs to stuff that may brake, or wear down quicker than normal. Unless you got the bank roll to support it, it's probably not something you want to dive into.

If you believe him over people who actually own the car, then don't get it. I know you've heard automatic 4cyl cars with exhausts before. The TRD is one of the better sounding exhausts for this car, it doesn't buzz or have rasp like a lot do. If you want to know what it sounds like, there are videos on here as well as Youtube.

I got an 07 tC Automatic as well, installed the TRD exhaust about a month ago. The exhaust in addiction to the Injen CAI, i love that way my car sounds. Not too loud, but you can definitely hear it when you rev it up. Ive gotten compliments on the sound of my car. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the TRD exhaust.

TRD has nice low rumble, kind of but not like a stock subaru. it does sound very bad(for my taste) when i added header, straight mid pipe, s-pipe and tuned. TRD had it designed to sound best with a stock car. with a CAI the throttle is delayed, compared to short ram, "but" short ram gets turbulance at around 5k rpm, and that caused the a/f ratio to be all over. the CAI is bolted behind the bumper, so removing it is longer then a short ram. check intake diameter as well, some companies down step the pipe at maf, wich causes it to richen up, but to big and it goes lean.

Also Ive been looking on the TDR site and other places and I cant seem to get a price on a Supercharger. I think turbo is prob out of my league at the moment. So looking up some priced on a supercharger, but cant seem to locate a TRD one.
