6 Speed adaptable???
^^^Agreed^^^
The tC NEEDS a 6th gear for interstate driving. Cruising down interstate for 2 hours with the cruise set and rpm's at 3,000-3,200 makes for a headache by the end of the drive.

That would be sweet to have an extra gear, but depending on how much it would cost for the tranny and labor would not be worth it. I guess if you had extra cash to blow that would be something to consider though.
The bell housing for the MR2 6 speed will bolt to the tC's block. They came with an optional LSD as well. However the camry is only a 5 speed buy has much longer greats and would most likely be much closer to a bolt in affair.

I don't think the MR2 has manual 6 speed tranny, it's 6 speed sequential gearbox. Just trying to clarify a little because I think everyone is talking about the 6 speed tranny from the Celica GTS.

Personally Id rather have a numerically lower final drive to get more out of each gear. I hate shifting into second halfway through an intersection. Lo_bux_racer had mentioned over on YSTC that the camry 5 spd is a direct bolt in with a lower final drive. That seems liek it would be the best case scenario and cheapest deal to me.
just a little, a lower final drive is going to slow u down just as much dont forget cuz ur taking away acceleration in order to gain higher speeds between gears
personaly i like it the way it is, just make 1st not as short and with the addition of a 6th, make 5th not as long

I am with sensay on this one. I would like to keep it the way it is, just add a 6th gear (overdrive) for the interstate driving. It's crazy running 3500rpm at 75mph for hours on end...and probably not too great on the motor. Not to mention the gas mileage would go up on the highway if we could run lower rpms.
The C60 transaxle(more appropriate term) will not fit into the tC. The starter is reveresed and under the intake on the front of the motor, not over the tranny like on the tC.
How do I know? I looked, I have also pulled quite a few trannies from Matix cars, nearly identical to the Celica. The XRS Matrix, Corolla and GTS all share the same 6spd.
I also have the full factory manual for the Matrix, PDF for the tC and I have the Micro fiche for them as well as the Camry.
My next approach is to see about stuffing the tC (E350) or a Camry (E351) with C60 guts. I am starting to compare part numbers, drawings, etc, and I have located a broken case Celica C60 tranny for only $350. Problem is time and funds as I have far to many projects going on all at once.
I am trying to get pexi rear windows, eccentric control arm bushings, control arms, taking the car in for a race back half cage one off build(may become marketable;) working on getting an F Con V Pro tuned for a FI 2AZ, etc, etc...
Just a bit busy and run my own business far more than full time and build 95% of our project cars with my son.
