Adding Nitrous to your tC..
So I'm looking at all the options, doing my research.
I've read what must be hundreds of threads on turbos and superchargers etc.
But I've yet to find a good tC specific run down of what NOS can do for you, what's a good kit, install suggestions, performance gains.
Most NOS threads degrade into name calling and pink slip race challenges.
This thread is not which is better, but what is the best way to use and get NOS and the associated costs, risks, and down side.
Realistically now risky is NOS these days, what should you expect to pay for an entry level (safer the better) kit, I'm guessing 50-75 shots are the max safe level
(what level does that put the tC into in terms of 0-60 speeds), I'm guessing these things should be installed by a pro?
Any and all constructive input welcome.

There aren't very many individuals that have gone the nitrous route for the tC, but it's something you can consider if your looking for power. If you do go the nitrous route I suggest you hire a professional installer that is approved by the nitrous manufacturer. I recommend a wet kit either by NOS or NX (although there are others to choose from) set at no more than a 75 shot. The addition of the nitrous kit will require you to use premium gasoline. Extras would include a bottle heater, purge kit, fuel pump, gauges and more if you wish to get into it. If installed properly, it should be pretty much trouble free. I'm not 100% sure on times but a 75 shot will probably yield at least a mid 14sec 1/4mile.
Obviously the higher the shot value the riskier. Also, wet kits are pretty safe, dry shots get more dangerous, and direct porting is the riskiest. But N20 usage today is like gunpowder usage today vs gunpowder uses back when it was first discovered which is akin to when N20 was first used. Back then, it was basically dump some into the intake and pray that you'll get performance (or.. dump some black powder into the barrel and hope the resulting blast doesn't kill you or your crew.) If it's done right you have nothing to worry about.
If you want sleeper, N20 is probably the best way to go. You'll probably even pass visual under-hood inspections!

See this is my current thinking.
I'm not a fan of being bleeding edge (never buy any technology in it's first year - cars, computers, dishwashers, superchargers, anything).
So the supercharger is off the cards until next summer, but I will get one then.
I figured if I could get a basic $400 kit, with a $200 install (total guesses). ANd run nice and simple 50shot, which I'd use maybe once or twice a week for only 0-60 sort of runs at most.
It seemed like a nice alternative to getting a header, and exhaust, a CAI and still only have 30HP and a raspy car.
For the moment the tC is fast enough for the country runs, the twists and the turns, I'd only need the extra kick for those green light launches.
..Or is it really not worth the effort or risk.
Anyone know the worse case scenario (ZPIt ran 125 shots and blew something - how much would that something cost to fix?).
Bear in mind also, that this is a car being driven by a mid-30's mid-life crisis sufferer, I never ran NOS when I was 18, so this has soooo much appeal.

EDIT:
Actually talking sleeper. Is there anywhere in the tC you can totally hide a NOS kit ? Is there enough vertical room in the areas to the left or right of the wheel well. I'd like the car to look almost totally stock. ;)

for what you want i wouldnt bother with nitrous or any thing just put that cash aside for you s/c that you want and maybe fix up your car audio or suspension work would be a nice mod
i would only go nitrous if you wanted to do some track time or go to the strip it cost to mutch to be waisting on the street $40 to refill it and you dont want to leave it sitting in your car unless you buy a blow down rail and even still you dont want nitrous spraying out while your car is sitting in a parking lot lol ppl might find that odd as they walk by your car
also some states issue heavy tickts for having the bottle connected
but then again some dont care some just dont want it open and a remote bottle opener will fix that issue lol
but what its realy going to come down to is what you want i know im going nitrous

I am doing the NX kit on my car. Does anyone actually have this on there car right now? Im wondering how they did the WOT switch. Or did they use the new electronic TPS box from NX.
I ran it for a long time on my Miata, but no experience with it on a tC. You'll find that most people who talk about it here never used it.
from my experience
Go with a wet kit, its safer than a dry kit.
Use colder plugs to fight detonation.
Don't hit the rev limiter on the spray. Run lean and kiss your motor goodbye.
If your engine is not on its last leg already, and if the nitrous is installed properly and used conservatively, you wont have a problem.
Dollar for dollar, it is the most cost effective horsepower increase.

I am toying with doing this later this year, if I do it, I'm making the 5 hour run down to ZPI to get them to do the install.
I wonder if the bottle will be empty by the time I get home.
I'd be looking at $1000 for the parts and install. But the way I see it I could eaily spend that on exhausts, headers, s-pips, intakes, mid-sections, etc.
I'm going to do some measuring tonight to see fi I can get a bottle under the back floor panels.
