AEM or INJEN??? Help me please
I tried getting more opinions on my other post but no luck. Basically I have been going back and forth for about 3 weeks. I am finally going to just order one t/m after reading about 1,000 posts on here. I need some opinions here. Which intake should I get..AEM or Injen? I know the AEM comes with a bypass valve, the injen does not. Also is the bypass valve really necessary? Please post which intake I should get and where to find that intake for the cheapest price. Again I am ordering t/m so quick responses would be great! Thanks.
good question.. i myself is that predicament..
I personally would go w aem coz of their dryflow filter.. no oils when cleaning.. coz sometime people tend to over oil their filter after cleaning them which may or may not damage the sensory components of the intake.. at least this eliminates that possibility...
powerwise.. i haven't yet seen a dyno chart of this. so far.. injen is the leading brand w/ regards to Hp gains.. bigger tubes.. and almost everyone in scionlife has them..
Again.. these cai produce unoticable Hp gains but will greatly improve the sound aesthetically giving you a sporty feel so just pick one brand that suits/is your fav..
bypass valves are there to prevent hydrolocking of the intake.. but youd have to pass by at least 2-3 feet of water causing immersion of your filter in the water.. for that to happen.. i doubt there'd be that much of a flood in PA.. ordinary rainy days wont produce hydrolock..
i already ordered an aem CAI but will not use the bypass.. i'll just insert it should the need arise..
good luck... on the install..

I have actually had both on my car and recommend the AEM intake over the Injen.
My number one reason for this is that the AEM intake is SO much easier to install and comes with a choice of colors.
I have the polished one - but others have the choice of red, blue, and polished.

lol well its pretty much a split decision here, I dont really care about color choices because I will be getting polished. I would love to see a dyno on the aem if I had that it would make things a lot easier. Keep the opinions coming guys.
I think the AEM is pretty new to the market so no one has purchased it and dynoed it. As mentioned, the Injen pipe may have some trouble getting through the hole in the fender area.
I had an AEM intake on my old car, and will probably go with them again. They come with a lifetime warranty and customer service is pretty good.

I just installed the Injen CAI using the DIY found on this site...it sounds GREAT, but HP gain is hardly noticeable. The Injen is a total b**ch getting the CAI portion through the fender well and into place; you will scratch it up, unless you feel like removing the fender as well.
I don't know anyone around here who is using an AEM CAI, so I can't say how difficult it is to install.

I installed the AEM on mine and loved it not hard at all to install.

Ok well the only thing hindering me from just getting the injen is the install. I have been reading post after post of how terrible the install for the injen is. I would just go with the aem but there is no videos or sound clips of it. I wish one of you guys with the aem could just get a real quick clip of a drive by with your intake. I love the injen sound but the installs a pain. From what I hear aem is easy install but I havent heard the sound of it, nor has anyone commented on the sound. PLEASE ANYONE WITH THE AEM, HOW IS THE SOUND? If possible post up a vid.
^ Im pretty sure the AEM only put spmething like 3 hp down and the injen was like 7-8 hp. again, you wont really notice the difference, however i lean more towards injen.
Install does not take long at all. takes a little finese and maybe 2 more minutes. i never had 1 scratch on it. I actually took it off and put it back on 3 times( dont ask me what for). good luck with your choice...
