Default Alphawerks headers? or Monster Motor Works Headers?

Im trying to decide inbetween getting the alphawerks headers or the MMW headers... on promotion tuning the MMW header is 540 dollars which is really expensive, and they claim it gains 26hp and 25tq.... Now that sounds nice, but why else is it so expensive... people say it comes with a new spipe but nowhere on anysite does it say that the headers come with the spipe... Also, the AW headers are only 300 dollars, but i risk the CEL, which supposedly doesnt come on with the MMW headers... Tell me what you think i shud buy....

If you read a little bit more, im sure you would be able to make the decision yourself..

The MMW headers are $750, and a few people on this site have had fitment issues, and then have had much trouble getting in touch with their customer support. Also, there CEL eliminator doesnt guarantee that the CEL doesnt come on, it is essentially the same thing as an anti-fouler. The MMW header does include an S-pipe, and is the only 4-2-1 designed header available for the tC at the present moment.

The alphaworks headers do not come with an S-pipe, but cost $450 less. An S-pipe only runs $200 tops, so the combined cost of the alphaworks header, spipe, and antifoul is only $503. However, once again the CEL may or may not come on. The alphaworks header is a 4-1 design - and has proven to be the best 4-1 header through a series of dyno tests comparing similiar styled headers.

DC sports has a new 4-2-1 header, Chris.

It's a 2-piece header that is truly 4-2-1.

AW isn't true 4-2-1.

I was seeing a 2-piece DC Sports 4-2-1 header online in several places before...

Odd... I don't see them now... lol

i never said AW was a true 4-2-1, i said MMW was.

Ive seen pics of the 4-2-1 DC headers, but they arent the same as real life DC headers, real life DC headers for the tC are ceramic coated 4-1 headers.

Alphawerks headers and ZPI S-pipe will be a good combo.

You could buy every bolt-on made for the tC, chip it and tune it, and be lucky to get 26 horsepower.

There is no way any header will give you 26 HP, sorry.

I had the MMW headers in conjunction with their short ram intake and cold air box. Prior to my turbo install, my tuner suggested that I get a base pull so we had an idea of what gains I had gotten. If I remember correctly, I was pushing 165-168 whp. The exhaust system was essentially stock.

I enjoyed having the MMW, however it is a two piece header. The fitment of this, at least on my vehicle was far from the best, and I had to minimize exhaust leak with exhaust paste around the joint.

The CEL that they use never ever threw a check engine light for me when I had the headers in. I went ahead and bought the piece separate (my friend bought my headers and s-pipe, and as far as I know his CEL has never come on either) after my turbo install, and after several adjustments, I am finally rid of the CEL.

I don't know much about Alphawerks, but I have heard that they were a good brand as well. Hope this helps.

I forgot all of my header research, but which helps what in this case. Meaning 4-1 pros vs. 4-2-1. And also any of these headers have an outlet diameter of the ideal(for me) 2.5"? Don't want to bottleneck the exhaust system.

i prefer the build qaulity of the AW header over the MMW. ive heard alot of fitment issues that go along with having to "slip fit" the MMW header together as it comes in two pieces. also the AW is madrel bent and not cut and welded together.
