Antifouler question

if that somebody you know installed an anti-fouler and ran rich, then they are a retarded because it probably means they installed the anti-fouler on the primary o2 sensor (the a/f sensor). they are supposed to install it on the secondary o2 sensor to trick it into thinking that the catalytic convertor is still present and functioning.
the secondary o2 sensor has no impact on the cars a/f ratios.

okay...pay attention here, there are two oxygen sensors in our cars exhaust system.
the first one is on the exhaust manifold before the catalytic convertor. this is the a/f sensor. it reads the a/f ratio and feeds the information back to the ECU to make adjustments. when you swap your header, you just put this one directly back on the header.
the second sensor is on the s-pipe after the catalytic convertor. the job of this sensor is to simply detect of the primary catalytic convertor is present and still doing its job of cleaning up your cars exhaust emissions. this is the sensor that you trick using some sort of antifouler or CEL eliminator or whatever. this sensor has absolutely no bearing on what your engine does. it just triggers a CEL if it thinks your catalytic convertor has failed.
take it from me, i've been running the weapon-r header for about 9 months now, my a/f's are darn near perfectly stoic, and i'm not spewing out black smoke. even when i had fully unrestricted 3 inch exhaust, i didn't spew black smoke.
if your friend is running rich and spewing out black smoke, there is something else going on with his engine.
