I searched already but I found no answers. Is there any chance that I may be running lean due to my I/H/E setup? oh and I have no CEL. The reason I am asking is because everynow and then my car will start idling hard at around 500 and shaking my car a bit. I do have the ingalls stiffy which might be at fault but i doubt it.

 

hard idling will not define if you are running lean or rich because when you are idling...there is very little fuel being injected into the engine. You could have an exhaust leak/leak near the header...your MAF sensor could be getting some different reading...it could be cold outside. There's a bunch of reasons why it would idle hard...but it doubt that it's because it's running lean. How does it run while driving and under full throttle?

 

Runs really smooth. But i gotta double check for a leak near the second sensor, i never checked it now that i think about it.

 

if it runs fine, then ur probably ok...u will run a little leaner than stock due to your setup...but nothing even remotely near to dangerous...unless u are also supercharged and untuned

 

your not lean or rich that would effect normal driving more than idle. 500 is a real low idle though, and im not sure if the Tc is an automatic idle control or if it is a manual adjustment

 

If you were running lean (or rich for that matter) you would throw a CEL, there are separate fault codes for each.

 

Sounds like everything is ok but i might just remove my header for a while since its been happening since I installed them. And maybe even jet coat them lol

 

i have the same probelm it will randomly idle hard and then slow down and come back up again

 

yeah.. mine idles funny sometimes but that's only when im at a complete stop and the idle drops to about 600 for like 1-2 seconds then will go back to normal.. but that's like once every three days.. is that normal?

 

I dont know but I am going to remove my header next week and if everything turns out better i will let ya'll know

 

i dont have a aftermarket header and mine idles hard sometimes when i get out of gear, it will be rough for a second then be good im pretty sure its the nature of our cars

 

check your spark plugs..... the color should tell you if you are running lean....hard idle is probable due to the stiffy... I noticed it on mine when I installed my MMW damper.... I noticed it more when I installed the ZPI engine stabilizer bar.

Also i thought having I/H/E makes you run rich, not lean. Becuase my Gas mileage is terrible. And that is what i have
