Default Any tips on removing manual transmission seal?

Pulled my axle out today and split the seal. Bought a replacement seal but upon trying to get the old one out it didn't want to budge. Is it normally hard to remove? Any tips on getting that sucker out?

They make a special tool for it. It's called a deal puller, it looks like this:

They are a tight fit. Once you get the old one out, find a socket that fits around the outer lip of the deal and use that to tsp the new one in. That will help keep from distorting it and causing a leak. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I tried a pry bar but it just bent the metal in one spot. I'm gonna pick up a seal puller today.
