Default anyone done a custom mid-pipe yet?

i have the injen exhaust and dc headers but dont really like the sound. the problem is obviously the midpipe. Im thinking about just getting custom one welded on and getting the more deep throaty sound and the hp increase. the only thing that worries me is the damn check engine light. but since i alreayd have it with the dc headers....whats it gonna hurt i guess. just wanted to know if anyone else has done it and how it turned out. thanks

I want to do a custom midpipe, I want to order the megan header and draxas downpipe first. then see if a local shop could make me a mid pipe w/ a resenator. That s my plan

Well I just got off the phone w/ my local exhaust guy and they just did a xb dual exhaust where the tips come out in the middle of the ride. So when I get the midpipe customed this month I will post some pics.

My plan:

Megan header
Custom 2.5" header-back exhaust
Apex N1 or Greddy Evo 2 or Blitz NurSpec Muffler

I had an Apex N1 on my subaru 2.5rs and it sounded sweet all around, that was N/A and a 2.5 liter v.s. the 2.4. But it was boxster H4 engine, while this is inline 4, not sure. But it will be s/c eventually.

well i guess i might be the first to try to custom mid-pipe. i already did the antifouler spark plug trick and it goes off and on, but i need to do the second o2 sensor and it might do the trick. but yea my friend will go halfs for me on my bday to do the custom exhaust, just worried about what kind of signals it will throw....wish me luck

^^^ Wasn't the anti-fowler trick to be done only on the second o2 sensor?

2.5" is pretty damn big, especially with a NA engine. You're gonna lose power and worse doing that because the 4 cylinder needs that back pressure.

The stock is 2.25", and the aftermarket ones are 2.5" and show gains. Maybe on the box it wouldn't work.

You were supposed to have done it on the 2nd o2 sensor, not the 1st.

i'm pretty sure the midpipe will make it louder, not deeper

aight guys i talked to my customizer, and he said he would be able to make the test pipes, the price range would be around 80, hed havta completely decide after he takes a look at wats involved, shipping wont be too hard cuz they small, but i need to know about how many to make, a rough number, id rather not be left wit any but i guess they can go to the highest bidder, lol

and the gutted pipes do affect the exhaust pitch, not much but it gives a slightly deeper, but louder tone, on my probe it wasnt to shabby, sounded like hot exotic wit the borla...enough about that jus pm me or post up ill b catchin up on this thread
