Default Bad starts leads to bad problem!!!

Well I have had cold start problems for about a month now but it seemed to get worse and worse the past 3 weeks. So I go to start it this morning and it wouldnt start. Battery is fine cuz my friend tried to jump it. No vac leaks, or air leaks of any sort and everything is connected and good. Well I finally get it to start but the thing is that it only starts and when I let off the start position and or the clutch it turns off. So there is something with the ignition. So then I keep trying and the starter is starting but wont kick over so I know the starter is good. WEll I keep trying and give it gas will in the start postion and let off and it finally coughs and kicks over. Through a check engine light and after letting it warm up a bit i drove it alittle and it stated to shake like I was miss firing then went away after warming up for about 5 mins driving. Then it seems fine but I never went over 3 grand and kept it under half throttle all the way to checkerd Flag. I have to drive from first colonial rd to toyota. it was like 15 mins of paranoya thinking my car was gonna die. So its at the dealers now and hopefully its something warrantied or its bad gas, cuz they said they have had problems with people getting bad gas.

I'll let yall know how it goes.

Sounds like an MAF or intake leak issue. Do you have an intake on the car? Check to make sure the MAF sensor plug is fully seated and the MAF is securely mounted. Also check all of your fittings to make sure they are tight around the throttle body and also that the vacuum line attached to the head is connected.

Yea my car has been starting sluggish as well. Ya know...the whole thing about getting "bad gas" really makes me wonder. If everyone suddenly started having these problems especially in geographically similar locations that might be a plausible explanation with distribution networks and all.

Only 10k miles on the car.

actually I hve noticed my car has been starting funny the past 1-2 weeks, I dont think anyone else would notice it except me, but its just not the same confident startup it used to be, and im only at 8k miles. It's kind of slow/shakey when i turn the key

I notice if I let my car sit for a couple days it is a bit sluggish. I went from a saturn to the scion and noticed right from the start that it takes a while to crank compared to the saturn.

its crazy cause a lot of peoples cars have been doing that recently too. i noticed mine do that for the past couple of weeks now as well. its werid how everyone felt the same thing at once and im at 49k miles so i doubt its a milage issue

Well I suggest everyone having a problem take it to the dealer and if enough of us go a TSB could be made for it.

my suggestion is that everyone take notice to where they are getting their gas. you must remember that a lot of places are using the excuse of oil shortage for the reason of high gas prices. many places are not selling the same stable gas they were about 5 months ago. in the last 2 months my gas prices have gone up about 60 cents a gallon. i wouldn't doubt if the gas is getting mixed unevenly to make more money off of it. dirty gas can affect your car drastically. i would also try to stay with one or two gas company. who really knows how different the type of gas is from each company. maybe thats the problem (doubt it though).

Well I use Shell premium everytime and I'm still having the problem. Whenever you have a problem and take it to the dealer they log it in the computer and if Toyota sees a LOT of the same problem they'll check it out and might put a TSB on it

what type of TSB are you expecting though? many people have a lot of things done to their cars. they will probably say that we voided the warranty by doing these upgrades. especially the header upgrade

I'd like to see them prove that a header has something to do with the starter or fuel system

Idk, maybe I'm just lucky to have a good dealer but mine won't try to pull some dumb excuse like it's the header. I'll try and take mine in next week sometime and I'll keep you all updated.
