Default better acceleration?

i have had my scion for a little bit now and i have added a greedy evo2 exhuaust with a ingen SRI. i have no real complants about those two additions; however, i do still want better acceleration than what i'm currently getting. I'm not trying to beat anyone in a race, i just want to be able to get up and go a little quicker without installing a turbo. Any ideas?

port the heads, higher compression pistons, ummm nitrous?

do you have a complete exhaust? aka header, spipe, catback (i think that's all the pieces anyways)

Lighter wheels and stickier tires. That should improve accelleration, braking, handling, and mpg if done right.

pully's. I added the crank pully and notice a huge difference in acceleration. I have other mods including dcsports header, trd exhaust, b&m short throw, zpi crank pully and zex 75 shot. But running the car without the Nitrous i noticed a huge difference between crank pully and no crank pully. I'm pretty happy with the acceleration.

Lighter wheels and stickier tires would help, but cost a good bit of $$$. A flywheel would also help but again, much $$$ for the installation, unless you can do it yourself. The best thing you can probably do is add a pulley set from NST.... http://www.nonstoptuning.com/pKitToySciTC.htm

how much hp do you think is gained back by using an engine damper kit? im sure its not much more than 5 or 7 but im pretty sure this would help out a little to.

i recommend getting the ZPI Lightweight crank pulley!

this will shave some time off acceleration.
proof : me and my buddie when 1/8mile head to head
tc vs tc
My mods: Injen CAI, ZPI pulley, fireball axle back.
His mods: Custom SRI, Megan headers, Injen axle back.

here are the track times, if you want a pic of the slip i will post one.

Me - Reaction --.6868 Him - Reaction --.8626
60 FT -- 2.3957 60 FT -- 2.6591
330 FT -- 6.5942 330 FT -- 7.0756
1/8 ET -- 10.1190 1/8ET --10.7355
1/8MPH -- 69.82 1/8MPH-- 68.35
MARGIN - .7923

Now i know he didnt get the greatest launch and it WAS NOT his best run of the night vs. MY BEST of the night.

his BEST run was 10.3. MY best run was 10.1
he ran about 4-5 times. I ran 3 times.

what im trying to show here is the main acceleration difference fron the 60FT to 330FT.

took me 4.1985 seconds to get from 60 to 330 FT
took him 4.4165 from 60 to 330

not thats like .25 of a second. in acceleration. THAT + the .22 Launch made for a .7923 Margin.

now he is ordering a ZPI pulley! LOL

Not to put down ZPI products, but I recommend the NST pulley's to the fullest. Just because the NST crank pulley is smaller than stock size and ZPI's. Both pulley's are smiliar but since the NST pulley is smaller it will give you bit better throttle response and a bit better acceleration increase compared to the ZPI pulley. And its even better when joined with there lightweight water pump pulley, and alternator pulley.

how much would it cost to get one of the pulleys installed + a new belt (what is a decent belt that corresponds to a 20% underdrive crank puller

check out www.nonstoptuning.com for the belt size needed. i just used a regular belt from auto zone an it works fine. but its whatever you prefer.

do these pulleys negatively effect alternator/water pump output?

no, it actually spins the alternator a little bit faster. not much where you can tell the difference. so it helps you a little.

i also meant premature wear of the alternator/water pump.

nst lol

i think there the only ones that sell there pullys

and there shouldnt be any extra ware since the alternator is getting less power then it used to

and no this doesnt realy hurt your power steering seems like stock to me

I went with the full NST triple setup and it's wonderful for acceleration....

It actually is an underdrive setup, so it's really bigger... and spins the alternator and water pump slower... but will not effect them negatively unless you're running a huge system.... if you are... just get the overdrive alternator and lightweight water pump and you'll be good to go...

I'd also suggest the NST over the ZPI... great product and insane support.
