Which is better? K&N/Aem Dryflow
My fujita intake has been on around 13 or so months now. Probably needs a new filter.
On eBay, new AEM Dryflow universal in the right size is $49. K&N's version is $42. So, what have you heard or know from experience?

Good choice, I switched to an Injen/Amsoil dry filter for the same reason.
The answer to your question is yes, by the way.

Maybe you missed the part where we said the Fujita can be washed? Save your money that way. Or you can goto a parts store and get an identical filter for cheaper.

FYI Autozone and PepBoys sell K&N filters. So if you say they have horrible quality, then you just went against yourself. Also, a filter is a filter when it comes down to it. You'll never see the difference between a couple CFM's on our cars. Thats all you are dealing with when it comes down to your 2 choices. No matter how well a filter may flow on the charts, it will always be limited to the application.
My "cheap" Autozone filter has done just fine for the car. Not had one issue with it at all, and the butt dyno stayed the same. Meh

If you have something like that and you're happy then that's cool. Some people like Ford, some like Chevy. I happen to think that a AEM dryflow or K&N will do a better job filtering than a Spectre or equivalent brand. Since hearing that K&N has to be oiled id rather go for the Dryflow. It's not always about CFM's.

I have better things to do then call your local stores. I could care less how you mod your car. I'm simply trying to save you money on something pretty worthless.
The name on the part does not mean its instantly better or worse. Case and point, a front strut tower brace. Why pay 110 for TRD when the Raceland does the same for a lot less? Simple concept, just because you don't know the brand or think its "cheap" or "rice" because its sold and stocked at a parts store does not mean it is the case. Both Spectre and K&N use a "high flow cotton" filter to clean the air going into the vehicle. One costs 20 bucks, the other 50. So because K&N has been around longer and marketed larger means its best? In no way. Basically, don't waste your money on name brand for the sake of name brand, name brand doesn't mean crap.

The first link is no where near reputable. They use a shop vac hooked up to the filter to see how much "tiny particles" it can suck up. Then out of no where make a claim of how much BHP it adds. Which if you look, is only the difference in 1 hp according to the backwoods test.
Second link, its at least done right. However you may note they do not use the filter in which you want, nor do they use the same style.
Basically, you'll be paying for a name regardless. Its your car, do what you want, I'm just trying to save you cash in the long run. 1 hp isn't going to mean crap to the car. Especially since our intake systems don't add more then 4-5 to the wheels anyways.
